I know there are a thousand out there on this issue - but i am compelled to post what an absolute crock the meter performance is on this game.  I played archaic golf games on 386 machines 20 years ago that didn't have this problem.   Download this, change these settings, etc.... jees, can't we have a game that works without having to stand on your head and gargle peanut butter.  After having fully optimized my system settings, adding RAM, etc. and still having problems, I had the opportunity to play on a friend's PC; it is a high-end system for 3-D modeling and other graphic intense apps and has more processing power, ram, etc. than God almighty and i still experienced meter issues.  There is an inherent flaw in this program that should be addressed before anything else, imho.  Let us butcher our cards without help from the game.

wow finally someone that agrees with me im sick of people defending the game and making excuses asking people about there pc info and telling them to download some bs gamebooster crap to fix it, there is no reason anyone should have to do anything extra to play some low end web based game.

PEOPLE there is no reason for this lag. It is very simple infact there are only two possibility's for this issue. Being a computer programmer myself i would KNOW.

    #1 Server issues

    #2 Flash programming issue

I would bet its a combination of both

    Good day

    Ok... my turn for 2¢.

Its a free game.  If you don't want to buy stuff, don't buy it.  If you don't like the way it's set up and working (for most of us) then don't freaking play.

I am soooo tired of ppl DEMANDING that WGT fix this and fix that and whine, cry, *** and complain.  Yes, the meter can glitch and yes there are a myriad of other problems and stuff we'd like to see get done that haven't a snowball's chance in hell of getting done.

But it's not like you spent $50 for a console game that is buggy.  THEN you'd have a right to complain.

This is BETA... helpful suggestions are welcome, ideas are welcome, overlooked bugs pointed out are welcome, and audience participation is welcome...

But dammit.. stop DEMANDING anything!  If you are so upset with the game, you DON'T HAVE TO PLAY.

This game is FREE.  You get what you pay for.

The flip side to that 2 cent coin, Snaike, is that I can buy crap at Wal Mart and expect to get what I pay for.  The big difference is that Wal Mart doesn't claim to be the best or most realistic at anything (other than low prices), while the folks here at WGT do.

As far as it being a free game...well, it's free to try.  If you want to excel at it, you'll have to spend money, quite a bit more than a console game actually. If you add up the cost a Rapture set one might get as a Hack/Amateur/Pro, then add in the cost of a Ping Master set once MAster tier is reached, plus the cost of all those GI-D balls necessary to make that Ping Master set work, plus the cost of the Redwood putter, you'll find you're over the $50.00 mark, even with the buyback feature.  The great foil of the micro-purchasing marketing model is that it can say it's "Free", when in reality the little costs that accumulate over time to compete add up to more than what a subscription fee would be with everyone having quality stock items.

I guess my point here is, sure this is Beta, and if the folks at WGT want us to test stuff out on their "Free" game, sure I'll do it.  It's when they start charging money for items to test that people start demanding a better quality product to operate with.  I'm playing over at Tiger Woods Online and they haven't charged me a dime for all the Beta testing I'm doing over there.  Sure, I'm not winning any "real" money yet, but the point is this:  If there is real money involved, then the quality of product needs to be elevated to justify it.  Otherwise it's paying for quality items and instead getting something off the Wal Mart shelf that doesn't work right.

They aren't giving away these club sets for us to try, we have to pay for them, only to find they don;t work correctly in some instances.  They offer some tournaments that you have to pay to enter, only to find that the meter stutters prevent any good score from being achieved on that particular day.  Therein lies the crux of the issue for me, and for so many others.  If it really were "free", I'd have no issue with the bugs.

You are right, tibbets... to the point that having been here for eons, having purchased all the goodies, offered your suggestions (some implemented, some ignored) and what not... you're voice, along with the others who have been here for quite some time, do have more leeway when it comes to demanding a better product, etc.

The ones I am specifically ranting at are the folks who have been here for a couple of weeks and have taken it upon themselves to start making demands on WGT and the community in general.  Don't get me wrong, everyone's opinion is valuable in this regard... Some just carry more weight than others.

I don't think buying at Wal-mart is a fair example.  Wal-Mart goods are (usually) cheap knock-offs from China.  Wal-Mart's realistic expectations are low prices and they do that very well, but (in my experience) the expectation of quality products from them is foolish at best.  When one wants a quality product, one should be prepared to pay for quality, and paying for quality is not the Wal-mart way.

As an analogy.. you want to buy a car some years back.  You have a choice.  A cheap Yugo or a Mercedes....  You don't buy the Yugo and start demanding Mercedes service.  It just won't happen.  (If you're too young to remember the Yugo, google it.)

Again, one gets what one pays for.  This game, micro-transactions aside, is still free to try.  So try it, spend a bit of cash and try to help them make it better... but don't "demand" changes unless you have time, experience, and a track record of knowing just what the hell you're talking about behind you.

    Regarding your second diatribe...

    1) "couple of weeks"??? i've been playing for 5 months (that's only 1/2 eon by your reckoning i supose)... regardless, is there a tenure requirement to post product suggestions? pls advise so i can mark my calendar as to when my suggestions will "carry more weight" and I'll "have more leeway".... until then, i think a password is all i need in an open forum, duh

    2) "have taken it upon themselves to start making demands on WGT and the community in general"...there's that "DEMANDING" word again... who "DEMANDED" anything of WGT?... who even mentioned the "community in general"???  glad you've "taken it on" YOURSELF to police and censor the forum, or attempt to at least...

    3) "but don't "demand" changes unless you have time, experience, and a track record of knowing just what the hell you're talking about" - oops, there's that "D" word again, this time in quotes (thanks for not all-capping it yet again -  time? 5 months  - experience and track record? did you check my tier? see you're still hitting from the white tees :-))))))

    4) kudos to Tibbets for his brilliant analogy which sums it up quite nice

    and once again

    5) if you're on the WGT team, thanks in advance for considering my suggestion, if you're not, go pound sand

The performance of this game has declined over the time I've been here.

It's ridiculous that I'm now checking to see what server I connect to in order to determine whether or not I should play, or close out and try to connect to a different server (which only alleviates the constant bad swing meter stutter, not the sporadic one).

Don't think for a second that the players here don't know about the swing meter issue this game has.   This is a major game issue (even if it is sporadic for the vast majority of players).   Unlike quitters, this issue affects a player's rounds directly, including single player tournament rounds.   Regardless of whether or not this game is "free" (and my counter point to that claim is that I'm QA'ing this game for free for a long time now as well), this is an issue that WILL drive away customers, both current and new ones.   Instead, we get apparently nothing but lip service from WGT regarding this ongoing issue.   And they waste their time, IMO, with addressing the "quitting problem" instead of a real game issue.

We're talking about a simple swing meter here.   WGT hasn't invented the wheel or anything of that sort.    These types of simple 2 or 3 click swing meters have been present in golf games since I've been playing video games.

Mony well spent for this game before any other upgrades would be to fix the meter issue. I have bought 17000 credits since I've been here and I do demand better. I beleive that ends up being $170.00 doesnt sound to free to me to to try and get the best results out of this game. I have bought just about everything they offer and the lag with the meter does not leave. Sure I'll end up spending that much again or more but I'll never tell someone to go somewhere else and play just because it's free ? .  Tibbits my hats off to you sir for being rational about the problems WGT has and some how ignors the real issues of the game. My hat stays on to the players that tell other players to go somewhere else to play.

phillipboom...  First of all, while your thread here was the catalyst that sent me on this specific diatribe, it was not aimed at you.. and for not making that clear in the beginning let me apologize.  In my haste to get my point across I forgot to set the parameters.  Mea culpa.

My thoughts are aimed at those, like the 2nd poster here, who have been here less than a month (under a different name that WGT has allowed him to keep) who have made it a habit of starting one line threads with literary gems such as .... "WGT you suck, Fix the Fing lag!"  THESE are the ones that have my dander up.
