When the ball lands on the fringe the default club shown is the putter and the markerboard shows the distance in feet. If I choose to pitch or chip then the units on the board change to yards but the number stays the same so, for example, an 18ft put becomes an 18 yard pitch. The default club for the pitch appears to be selected on the yards!

This is a glitch that was introduced after the last mobile update. Hopefully, they'll fix it with the next update.

It's a pain I know. I just figure that 3 feet is yard, so 18 Feet is 6 yards.
My old Jack Nicolous game used to do that and drove me nuts.
Must me mobile because I haven’t noticed that
on the web game. I’ve played a little on Mobile this week but haven’t landed on the fringe.
There's nothing to figure out if you just putt it

You have to figure out how much the fringe will slow your putt down

i never pitch , chip, or flop ... ever . the amount the fringe slows a putt is so small its not worth thinking about .

I have a feeling his wedges are a big part of the reason he always putts. And yes, depending on the course and how far you are on the fringe, the amount of slowing it does to your putt can be significant.
