Hi guys, I’m looking at the L98 Odyssey putter, but there are two versions, M1, and M2. Which one is preferred, or are they just the same?..thanks

    TopShelf2010:

I believe the difference is in the scales...

    M1 - 15, 30, 50, 100, 150 & 300

    M2 - 10, 20, 50, 100, 150 & 300

    Don

Yeah, I checked them again, and you’re right. My putter increments are, 15, 30 and so on. Which increments are preferable, even or odd numbers? don’t want to spend all that credits, then regret it, because of increments.

The third  increment or scale if you prefer on the M1 is 60 not 50.

Don't think it matters. A lot of people like the M2 for easier math in your head, but whatever you're most comfortable with. If you're used to the M1 measurements of the Versa L70, stick with that.

    +1

When I switched from the Versa to the Sabertooth, I got the M2 because I thought I'd like having that scale for the easier math. But it took me a long time to get used to the new scale. I should have purchased the M1 and stuck with the scale I was used to.

Ultimately, however, I got used to the new scale. But the M2 scale ended up being less of an advantage than I thought it would be due to the learning curve.

Bottom line: stick with what you know.

I have the M1 for this reason. I’ve been using that scale from the start of WGT so it’s what I’m used to. However, I see very little difference from my old Odyssey Versa #1 black putter L33 I had before.

Never used the L33 Versa (well maybe on a rental but memory is foggy on it).

Your L70 Versa I used extensively and it is a great little putter, IMO.

If you do change I would say consider sticking with the same scale.  I bought the wrong one by accident but stuck with it as soon got used to the new scale - Scale is the last thing I care about, just personally.

I would say the roll out is an inch more controllable some of the time from distance, but with any half decent ADTP the L70 is long since very fine.

If you just fancy a new toy then great.  If you are looking for something to noticeably improve your game the new putter is not it.
