The record for the lowest 18-hole score in an official PGA Tour round 59. This score has been posted five times in tour history:

    • Al Geiberger: 1977 Memphis Classic (29-30), Colonial Country Club (par 72)

    • Chip Beck: 1991 Las Vegas Invitational (30-29), Sunrise Golf Club (par 72)

    • David Duval: 1999 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic (31-28), PGA West (Palmer Course) (par 72)

    • Paul Goydos: 2010 John Deere Classic (31-28), TPC Deere Run (par 71)

    • Stuart Appleby: 2010 Greenbrier Classic (28-31), The Old White Course (par 70)

Somewhat amazing that Geiberger did this back 35 years ago.

The Duvall 59 was in the final round of a tournament and he needed it to win by a stroke I believe.

There were 3 or more scores last year that could easily have been 58 or 59, just goes to show how the players are taking advantage of the older courses.  The Greenbrier is an old classic course that plays to about 7,000 yards, there could easily have been several other scores under 60 on that tract last year, I think Compton only needed to par in to break it in the third round.

There were also 2 59's shot in q school. They are not recognized because q school is not a sanctioned PGA tour event but quite a feat all the same.

2000 *: David Gossett shot a 59 during PGA Tour Q-school. While it was a great day, it wasn't a great week for Gossett who didn't earn his card for 2001 despite the sub-60 round.

2008 *: In the fourth round of PGA Tour Q-school, Harrison Frazar carded 11 birdies and a eagle to shoot the magical number. He missed a birdie putt on 18 by mere inches that would have given him a 58. I remember seeing this one on the golf channel at the time.
    * -- Do not count in the official PGA Tour record book since it wasn't an official PGA Tour event.
