    I have the Callaway.

The Taylor Made gets me two yards and slightly slower meter. I ding alot of my drives so the sightly less forgiveness is not an issue.    My gut tells me I could shave a stroke a round.

    Is it worth the upgrade?

All I can tell you is I had both, I stayed with the Taylormade.

I have the TM and love it, but if credits are of no issue I have always had the belief that every little bit of an advantage a player can get is good to have. JMO

I use range balls so good clubs are important from the tips...I agree with Brian on this. The one caveat is the benefit versus the credits...its not worth it to me for the absolute top driver, given the cost.

ps: I currently use the Callaway fusion driver...lvl 100

As far as drivers go, I would say that if you have any of the top 4 in the pro shop then you do not need to change it.  I have stuck with the L96 Big Bertha and more often than not I match or go past the "longer" drivers.

In my opinion it is the irons and the wedges that save the shots and not the driver.  If you are regularly hitting far down the fairways then the drivers job is done and it is not worth another 3000 - 4500 credits to get a very similar driver.

I find the best change to make with driving is the amount and type of spin used when you tee off.

    +1

A while back, I tried out the TM (L103) driver. It's a fine driver. But I really didn't see any practical difference between it and the Nike driver I'm currently using (both into and with the wind). So, for me, it wasn't worth the credits. And I have plenty of credits.

I think TM driver falls into the category of "if you need a change and think this will help, then get it." But, in my opinion, don't expect it to be a game changer. And there's no way I see it saving a stroke per round.

    That's just my 2 cents.

At your level of play you're not going to be shaving strokes off a round from the tee. I see you went with the R1-good move IMO-but what you've done now is changed your approach distances and in some cases, location. That's where you're going to be shaving those strokes off. GL with your new toy.  :-)

I own the old red Nike driver(lvl 100), the lvl 98 TM 8 degree, and the TM lvl 103 driver...

Used them all, and I still use the Nike 95% of the time because I can't do anything with it I want, I can because I'm used to it...

I use the lvl 98 TM 8 degree in high wind and Erin Hills...

I use the TM 103 occasionally because I own it, I don't see much more distance out of it, and I don't like the slow meter which is the main reason I stick with the other 2...

any of them will lower your scores, but if you own 1 already buying the TM 103 won't take a stroke off your score, only good irons and a good putter does that.

I appreciate the feedback. I did make the change - an indulgence perhaps - but anything I can do shorten that second shot is irresistible.

You are right; I'll have to identify where I'll be able to take a different line off the tee
