I was thinking this morning, that it would be cool if wgt could add a addl power strip at the top o the meter for add'l power. This would not effect the way the current meter appears.  Simply add an addl 10-15% past the 100% point and highlight it in yellow.  The more you go over 100%, the less precise your impact is and the faster the meter swings back.  So it could give you more opportunity to get some added length that are in between clubs and addl distance off the tee.  I am not worried about those folks already shooting in the 50's all the time.  But would be a nice addition for all around play.

The only real issue I see with implementing this would be the exponential aspects of how much spin is created from shots over the 100% mark.  might be nice on the putter as well.

    Thoughts.

WGT, please feel free to chime in.

    Hi,

I don't know. Seems to be there is 100% power and anything over isn't really power but more like steroid power?

Not really Icon. Think of it this way....

The current meter reflects my average shot with a natural swing. Take my driver, it is 280 with no wind and a comfortable normal swing. But now there is that one hole that if I could just really rip one (at a risk) I can clear that bunker with this bad headwind. Otherwise I would have to lay up.

It would simulate swinging much harder than you "normally" would, but would come at a risk of an errant shot.

    My 2 cents worth.

As soon as they figure out a way to charge you 100 credits (and plug in 2 sponsor commercials) they'll make it happen.

There are players here, myself included, that don't play to the ding, but use spin and curve to play wind.  This would put those players at a severe disadvantage over players that play to the ding.  And some of the top players are so good with the ding, you are gioving them that extra distance on pretty much every hole.  The only way this would be feasible is if the going over the 100% mark also made the meter speed increase significantly.  In other words, say the meter goes to 105%.  If you hit 101%, your meter will come back down 20% faster than usual.  102%?  40% faster.  Up to 105%, in which your meter speed is doubled.

I believe we have stated this several times before. Playing for ding will produce the best results by far. Also most reliable results. Playing for anything else is at your own peril.

    I can' stress this enough.

Understood Icon but that is not what the player is stating. The current meter is a normal swing, but like real golf you can over swing on purpose in the hopes of achieving greater distance, but with any over swing you receive more chance of an errant shot. The gamble is does the risk out weigh the reward. In my opinion it would be a great addition to this game.

In my opinion this feature would be a waste of WGT time and money to develop. We can get extra distance by using different balls and spins. That time and money could better be spent ding other things to improve the game. And with the addition of the R11 driver I can't see this as anything but over kill. And there are probably more drivers to come.
