If you hold a shark up to a tree, would it eat the leaves?

I'm sure the answer to that question has the same answer as this question:

Can you get a bird dog to eat mustard greens?

    Yes, if it's hungry enough.

    hope that helps.

Probably not since he probably will eat you before you get to the tree.  :-)

No. And not for the reason Jim gave. A shark being a fish needs water to breath . A shark would most likely die of aphyxiation before he could eat you or the leaves.

So it could be said then, that Wittgenstein had a point when he stated with unequivicality that if a Lion could talk, we would not understand him?

    I see.

Does the lion understand the mouse that roars?

Not all sharks are 20ft and 2 tons.  You could very well hold up a small shark.  Since sharks have been found with soda cans in the stomach cavity, one "could" conclude that a shark would eat leaves.  There are also plenty of trees next to the ocean.  I'm sure this question would be an epic fail if you were holding a 2 ton shark up to a tree in Montana.

As far as the lion is concerned...I'm fairly sure I would understand the lion speaking English way before I would understand a person speaking German.

entertaining Lizzie, throw something else up here....lol

anybody up for the "tree falling in the woods" debate... Or how to escape from the middle of a lake covered with frictionless ice(barring wind resistance of course)?

Is it possible to believe in Hell and Eden, or are they both attempts to explain who we are, and is who we are, not a question?

If you calibrate the word "fly" by Wright brothers standards, I would have to say yes.  If by USAF F--22 standards, I'd have to go with no.
