So after playing a number of rounds on the WGT system, I
think I can finally "put my finger on" what the problem is that I
was specifically struggling on with WGT putting system.
I can read the green and adjust the speed accordingly and aim
properly. (at least good enough for "guhdemnt werk") What
was happening is that the green swatch line goes "rattle, rattle,
rattle, rattle, WOOSH" and then I missed to the right every time.
I am playing on the fastest machine in the house to help out.
It seems like the WGT putting algorithm takes into account the amount
of time that you draw back the putter to select the distance with
the yellow swatch. So anytime I wasn't selecting with the yellow
swatch the distance IMMEDIATELY, it would be almost impossible
to finish the putt with a click near the line. When I quickly select the
distance with the mouse, it seems to stabilize the meter a bit so that it
doesn't go crazy, and allows for an ATTEMPT to make it. It isn't
perfect science because some holes it literally will not let you make
a putt from a certain direction on that green, but the WGT algorithm will
let you make a putt from less than a foot normally even if that green
at that certain direction is struggling.
My advice to anyone is to buy ANY putter than has the METER SPEED
at any level less than pegged on the left, then probably download and
print out one of the rogue "paper meters" to help, (I do not use a paper
meter or helping device) and DO NOT start to draw back the putter with
the mouse clicked until you are ABSOLUTELY SURE where you are going
to let go of the mouse on the YELLOW swatch, then quickly draw the
mouse back to the spot and TRY to get DING on the green swatch.
