BRACKET PLAYING TIME

  We're a small club at the FPGC and don't play bracket tournaments (we tried).

  We're looking at trying them again.

   It's likely that 'more club bracket playing time' has been discussed already in the WGT forums, but I didn't have time when posting to look, their are a lot of posts about brackets. 

  Below is part of my response in our club forum.

  "With our small numbers  -and you know from experience- it's unlikely we'll fill them. How many players have time to log in every 24 hours? it might be even harder to find the time now in the week that's in it.

  I suggest to try one this week and see, if it doesn't work, try one next week?

  It would be better if WGT gave us more time to play options of 48 and 72 hours.  I'd be surprised if this idea hasn't been suggested to them already.  This might also help improve the numbers that play in the general bracket tournaments."

  Will WGT take on board for consideration?

  I wish we had the option also of 48 hours, We fill the bracket in a day but work constraints make it difficult for players to finish.

  People have asked for smaller brackets which would be easier to fill with small participation. No sign from the company to even think about it.

  I'm guessing that any effort for any change will be avoided - it's not profitable!

  In a CC, you can still set up a ladder by hand!

  One further option is to create bracket tournaments outside of WGT. 

  Challonge.com is free and allows for both single and double elimination tournaments.The only problem is that the games are played head to head so the participants must make suitable arrangements. But with a small group where it is hard to fill a WGT bracket, it is a viable alternative.

  We have a monthly bracket at our club, but it has been hard to fill of late so I tried to set up an alternative.

  I used Challonge, and then created a multi-round tournament on WGT, where you can set the duration of the rounds as long as you need. I waited until the first round had completed and then plugged the names of everyone who participated into Challonge and shuffled the seeds to make the draw random.

  It's not a perfect solution because when I share the link to the Challonge bracket players can see who they're drawn against in Round 2, as is the case in a regular bracket too of course, but in a regular bracket they cannot see what their opponent has scored until after both have played. In a multi-round tournament you can see all scores.

  Still, as a compromise setup it seems to work okay.

  its a really simple solution. 8, 16, 32 and even 64 brackets. Then have 1,2,3,4,5 days playing time to choose.

  Thats the easy stuff, to get them to implement so sort of pairs double is not even worth asking if they wont even do this.....

  Its pathetic really, making people go onto to other sites to do stuff like set up a bracket is wrong, people wont do, people will get bored of wasting extra time and people will leave. For new clubs a smaller bracket is needed or clubs with low membership. High clubs would like a bigger option as well. 

  People have been asking for ages for this, it surely cant take much effort to put in as its already in the game just needs adjusting! No harm what so ever putting it in just wgt been stupid/lazy and rather more interested on making a ball with snow coming out it! 

  SUCH A SIMPLE FIX....... but then when they dont even seem interested in fixing the invite bug maybe cc's will be removed from the game in the next update.....
