Cup Playoff's; Quarter Finals at Chambers Bay
Match 4
Tie #2
PARAGON 2 v Trans Raiders
#125 Kenher01 v achtbaan (Bert) #95
I won 1up on 18th
We both pitched in for birds on the first & then we also got birds on the 2nd & then Bert followed that up getting another bird on number 3 to go 1 up before he Eagled the 4th to 2 up.
5th was 1/2'd with Par's.
I got a rare bird on the 6th to narrow the gap to 1 down.
7th was 1/2's with Par's
8th, Eagles went a begging but we both settled for birds.
9th was 1/2'd with Par's to leave Bert 1 up at the turn.
I birdied the 10th to go all square
11th halved with Par's
12th, I thought I landed & bounced nicely but then it went up & stayed on the shelf to the right of the green & started to roll back to edge but stopped whereas Bert's Tee shot stayed below the hole.
I somehow managed to go up to come down by playing it way off to the right up past the hole to roll back down to it which left a gimme bird for me & Bert rolled his Eagle attempt to gimme range also.
13th was 1/2'd with birds
Bert birdied the 14th to go back to 1 up
We both birdied the 15th.
16th, We both had 100 wedges in hand, Bert came up 5 yd's short & I went 2 yd's long, Bert came close with his birdie attempt but left a gimme Par so that left me with a dilemma as I was one down & had a 5 footer down 1 with 1/2 of a box of break, Go for it at speed but if i miss it run the risk of not getting the return putt so I hit it deadweight & aimed 3/4's of a box & I pinched the bird to go back level.
17th, We'd a slight left to right tail wind & I managed to ding my Tee shot to leave It 1 yd from the hole, It looks like Bert clicked ever so slightly early & just caught the wrong side of the ridge on the left & he was unable to make the long birdie putt so I went 1 Up.
We got a sidewind on the 18th, I laid up with my approach to give myself a full wedge In & Bert gave his 3 Wd everything & left himself 17 yd's In.
I hit my full 80 W to within 2 yd's & Bert put pitch to a yd from hole, I sunk my birdie putt from 5.2 Ft to stay & win 1 Up on the 18th/last hole.
Bert was -5 through the first 4 holes & was throwing dart after dart & draining putts left, right & centre so he had me worried & I'm still at a bit of a loss how I managed to get back Into the game a sneak a win.
Well played again Bert, A Gentleman.
