No official WGT insight here, but it would appear the change is to share the winnings a bit more. Less RGs options for a single player = more turnover of tournaments (fill faster), meaning more people will enter and have a chance to do well, as they won't fear the regular RG winners so much (they can only be in 7 tourneys a day...)
If they get the same amount or more of RG volume play per day (which I believe they will), it is a win for the golfing masses and a breakeven for WGT revenue.
Of course they could just be updating several of them for the beginning of the month and are behind because someone had the nerve to go on vacation :-).
