Thanks folks, ive been telling members this is happening to me a lot, and with more than just that iron as well. I usually see the wrong club selection that is described here, and then choose the correct club, as this happens all too often. Problem is, i still get the short distance anyway. Im now wondering if there is bug in the actual club selection system, meaning you could still have the correct club selected, but get the result of a different club.

I've been asking about this too. On Par3 holes with the Burners, it does not seem to register the club change occasionally. Had one today in a Challenge game at BP14; 175 yd club with full backspin (for 173 yd shot on a 2' dnhill green), with 9 mph cross-wind. Missed ding by a fraction, the ball flew more than 190 yds, beyond the green, and into the deep rough beyond.

This has happened more than once now, and I know Deviations and Circle of Precision blah blah, but it seems to me that it is more likely that the game isn't registering the lower club selection. Thoughts guys?

but some one pointed out, that sometimes there's a bug with the caddy, and it doesn't register the club change,

This is interesting. I saw that but never gave it much thought because I use the mouse wheel and look at the yardage of the selection instead of the actual iron #. I would have expected the 7i (160) to do the 166 and stop so you may be right, Chris.

FWIW, this occurrence is very recent-it didn't always do that and it didn't do it this AM on the same hole.

I have to add my 2cents of nonsense .  175 yrd club with 20 mile head wind;  with TOPSPIN the club travel 182 yrds????   On 5 different instances I have had this.   But the kicker is.... It  happens 40% of the time with a headwind.    Sometimes I get 174 and sometimes its like the wind is non existent..  I have had this instance with all spin balls (GiSD,Callys)  Same outcome.

Is this what the club is suppose to do when adding TOPSPIN?   I wouldn't think so......  I would expect 170-175 yards max.  I do believe there are some bugs or quirks when using the Burners.

Your post made me laugh as it made me remember what happened to me a few weeks ago

This exact same thing has happened to me on the same hole, i selected 175 iron, gave full backspin, and ball went 200+ yards way past the green, and it was also in a challenge match, i reported it as a bug, but there deffinately is some sort of bug with caddy, or burners as i dont really remember it happening with G10's

Hoping to get more reactions from Burner users about this, and whether it is a problem for everyone.

Definitely, the ball cannot go to 190 yds with cross wind using a 175yds club (especially with full bs and missing the ding) even taking into account circle of precision etc. The only exceptions are: if it is a severe downhill shot or if the ball bounced badly and rolled long.

If the pin was at 173yds, then by default the caddy select the 190 yds club, so it could be that it didn't register the lower club selection.

When this happen, we should all write a bug report mentioning the club we believed we shot with (just to insist where to look at for the bug). Fortunately, it never hapened to me up to now (well except when I miselect the club or the scale of my putter myself lol).

i have consistency problems with the 145y, 175y and 190y burner irons using the calla z balls. sometimes they go the right distance, other times they are 20y less or 15y more. im talking about a flat lie too. the 190y sometimes goes 160y for me into a headwind (moderate). gonna take a break and see if it fixes things this end - cant play like this lol.

My problem with the Burners lately is... After I move the Aim for direction in relation to wind conditions... then I hit the Ding the ball goes straight and doesn't follow the path of the Aim I set... causing the ball to go way left or right in accordance of wind, but if I slightly miss the ding then the ball follows the path of the Aim I set.

    Cheers

Could it be WGT are messing around with the occasional burner shot to even out the accuracy?  Because since the burners have been introduced, every one is scoring very low now, so could they introduce a random messed up shot just to stop low scores all the time?  Doubt it though, i'll stick with a bug with caddy selection lol.
