When will WGT get a clue and get rid of the whole random course thing for Clashes? This seems like a simple fix.....to have one course for everybody in the first four hours or so, then the same course for everyone the next four hours or so, etc., for the entire length of the Clash?
Our tiny CC played 10 rounds in this past Clash and got Merion front nine in five of them. It is awfully boring to play a difficult course for four hours only to get it for the next four hours, and then the next four hours. Not only that, but like this last Clash, there were two really easy courses where clubs could put up a ton of points and two much more difficult courses where scoring was a lot more difficult.
I've been here for a long time, and there are two continuing complaints about the Clashes:
1) The whole random course situation which does not make it an even playing field.
2) The ridiculous prizes (particularly for CC's that finish outside of first place). Really, a dozen golf balls to just one of about 200 members for second place, a half dozen golf balls for third place, and nothing worthwhile for the rest of the country clubs?
I am going to reiterate an old theme here that both of these things really need to change. WGT would make a lot more money, and a lot of people would be a lot happier about the Clash competitions. It seems like such a simple fix and I have always been baffled about why they don't fix this.
