How important is the ball to improving your game?

I have experimented with 5 different types of ball and so far had most success using the WGT B-XD. I've tried 2 different callaways and although found the distance improvement helpful of the tee, I find if I don't 'ding' the shot it could go anywhere...

    Just looking for opinions.

    Cheers

I think it's mandatory. Otherwise you simply will not be able to stop the ball on the greens.

Think I'll try the srixons next.

On a side note I can't see the need for the 'vapour trail'.

    Thanks everyone.

    Pryke,

    This is just my opinion.

I have tried quite a few of the WGT balls, and am totally satisfied with the GI-SD (the free Dove is the same ball w/ vapor trail). While I have not tried the Sirxon as yet, I did try the Callaway and was absolutely unimpressed!  Price is ridiculous and results are not all that impressive.  Of course the die hard Callaway guys will disagree I'm sure.  The price of the Sirxon seems to be reasonable, especially if the durability is as advertised.

Shop around and find something that suits your game.  Whatever, have fun!!

I agree. The Gi-SD is a great ball. I have a bag full of those Dove balls and have been using one every now and then. The meter is a little quicker than the Callaway legend Zs but it's nothing I couldn't overcome. This coming from a "die hard Callaway guy".

Been playing with the Srixon Z-Star XV for mabe 6 rounds. Liking alot. I've got good distance control. Stops pretty quickly. If it wasn't for the expense I'd probably stay with these.

When shopping for balls previously I kept thinking why is there a feel gauge. How can you feel anything on a computer????? Just read the FAQ's, slows down the meter! So why not have a meter graphic like when comparing clubs?

    Cheers

If you can handle the faster meter speed, the Tour-SD ball is a very good option. It's the same ball as the Tour GI-SD with out the 1 dot of feel to slow the meter down. And it's reasonably priced.
