Why is it only people from Netherlands & germany are allowed to win any prizes for the KLM Open:

A 9-hole closest-to-the-hole challenge where players have a chance to win tickets to the 2011 KLM Open or the grand prize of two green fees at Hilversumsche. Anyone can play, but only players in the Netherlands and Germany will be entered into the sweepstakes drawing. No purchase or payment necessary to enter or win. Please see rules for details.

Does it really matter where you live to win tickets?

    Hi Chris,

Think they learned from last year. In 2010, the KLM Open was open 2 residents of all countries and prizes 2 (or at least 4 a lot of countries). It was a big mess, see: http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/20369.aspx?PageIndex=1

The contest was still running and the real tournament had already started......they decided 2 give the tickets away before the end of the contest, 1 day before the start of the real tournament.....not that nice when ur coming from oversees, or any other remote destination.....

    Cheers, GC

PS Winners except tickets are still not known 4 the 2010 edition, see: http://www.klmopengame.nl/tournament/virtual-klm-open-tournament/1 !!!!!!!!

Yea, I'm still waiting for my tickets to the 2010 Open. Whenever I receive them, I will have had other plans!

At any rate, the system is a lot clearer this year.

Why the limitation to NL and DE? Don't know, but certainly there have been other tournaments restricted to the US etc, so fair is fair. Sometimes it has to do with travel costs, but also it could be a way to avoid risks related to gambling laws, contest laws, tax laws, etc., across numerous countries.

Anyway, I hope the tournament goes well. The Netherlands is such a cool country, and the ties between Hilversumsche and WGT appear to be getting stronger. (Full 18-hole course, hint, hint!)
