    Equipment & Avatars

    Discuss WGT equipment and avatars.

OK, this is the place for this post.  WGTICON, how can WGT continually ignore the masses when they ask for the ability to purchase single clubs?  It seems to me this would be a natural $$$ maker.  Make single clubs available, and charge something like 700-800 credits per club.  You will immediately get 3500 to 4000 credits from me, as I would be buying new 5-6-7-8-9 irons, plus thinking about buying new wedges and hybrids.  Come on ICON, but the bug in their ear, you can do it.

    EDIT:  Modified the thread title

I hear ya but it's not as simple as it sounds.

    1. we likely can't sell clubs like that due to obligation (i actually have no idea but just making a guess)

    2. the system is not programmed to work like this. the clubs are not a single entity but a whole set which has MANY parameters that are shared like swing speed, loft, back spin, and many others. so, it's not as simple as just doing it.

Fair enough Icon, but why could it not be possible to take say the pw outta the bag so i can game  a 4th CG16  52 deg wedge instead? Wont be too many numbskulls like me with 1 of them sitting in the locker gathering dust!

    Cant be done i know!

While you're at it, Icon, I wanna buy a 1-iron and a 2-iron to match my 3-PW set!

I think it'd be easy enough tp produce single irons...IMO no different that the wedges, and wood available now..

That said, you'd still have to drop an optional club (wedge, hybrid, etc) in order to use it.

I recall reading an old post (I think by WGTAlex?) as to why individual clubs could not be dropped from a set, don't recall the particulars, but it made sense.

I've posted about this a few times myself.

I have the solution! no one really listens to me though :(

It is unlikely that WGT could ever break up the "iron sets" as they are now without a near complete re-work.

The solution would be to open up a 'custom shop' Where you make your own set for a fee. You custom iron set could be a PW-5i, and 2 hybrids for example. You select those options, pay for it, and now whenever you equip that 'iron set' those are the clubs you play.

There is no need for the 'iron set' to actually be irons, you know?

Ok,  I had been asking myself about this for the last month and here is my opinion and sorry is my English is not good enough (spanish speaker)

My 3 iron Av. Distance is 220yrd, the longer hibrid around is the R11 225yrd. I would preffer to have my hibrid instead of the 3 iron because is really hard to use it. If I want to give up on one of  my 3 Wdg´s instead of the hibrid, for example... that would not make sance since I will be having two clubs with similar distaces.

I can buy  the R11 hibrid beacuse of the performance in rough and frescue, aslo is easy to handle; but I will be having an useless 3 iron in my bag. Every shot around 220yrd I would be using the hibrid for an easy shot and of course the low metter speed!

When i was in a low level with no acces to the highest level clubs (meaning the 2.O burner's L79+ and R11's hibrid), I used to have always an hibrid in my bag and I used to change it every now and then for a wdg depending on the curse... now that doesn´t make sence so I haven't even bother on buyin and hibrid.

Cheers every one, and I hope there will be a solution or an alternative to this matter.

    Javier.

problem with that is this: difference clubs play differently, so how would you balance it. we'd then have to treat them separate, like woods... maybe that's the way to doit, but I personally don't think it'll work as well

with that said, i'll bring this up:)

For my approach shot, when I select any single iron, like a 5 iron, isn't that the same is if I were selecting a single club?

    Ty icon.

this is a thread I started a long time ago with some ideas. http://www.wgt.com/forums/t/21736.aspx

basically the idea isn't that you'd mix and match from all the stuff in the pro-shop - but rather that there would be some sort of options within the particular brand and model when chosing a set of "required clubs". It would/nt even need to be a custom shop... just offer more options....

So, If I was buying the ping i15's, I would have the option of buying the standard iron set, or I could buy a set that had a hybrid instead of a 3 iron. Or some lines may have hybrids instead of all the long irons.

As far as the club characteristics, the irons and their respective hybrids pretty much have the same specs except for spin anyways. As long as that is somehow known to the buyer, I doubt there would be much of an issue as far as balancing the clubs across a set.
