Got in the trap on #7 Kiawah.  Tried to shoot over it and ended up in the sandy weeds.  Couldn't get out of it.  Shot a quad bogey on a par 5.  I know the best way to get out of it is to not get in it.  That being said, how would what is the best way other than hacking your way out of if?

It really depends on the lie as to how much club you can play, even then that varies hugely depending on the type of clubs you have in your bag.

Play a punch shot, the less severe the lie the longer a club you can play. Don't try to get too greedy on the distance or you may find the ball goes nowhere.

A 30-40 lie towards the tee side of that bunker is trouble. Don't try to go long out of it. Closer to the green side you get 15-20 where you can use a longer iron if you're not too close to the wall.

Play for the fairway with your wedges, then play from there. If you get greedy, you'll take a quad like you did. At the front of the bunker, go left, then a par is a very realistic score. I've posted a thread here, since I can't figure out the image stuff on the WGT forum. I hope this helps!
