I'm an over rated tour pro that can't putt but that is another story.  Is there an advantdage to buying a club set as opposed to building a set club by club?  any thoughts?

It's cheaper, that's the big plus. I saved up for the full G10 club set and it has served me well. Once I leveled up enough I supplemented it with a longer driver and 3W and will probably start buying wedges.

I think the G10 set is a good one to aim for.

The sets are significantly cheaper. That said, I've never really found myself wanting every club that came with the set, so I've never purchased one.

As you climb the ladder, the advantage of sets (besides the aforementioned cost) is keeping the meter speed consistent in your bag.  Trust me, you are almost always going to have a slower meter on you putter and having to work with different meters within the other clubs is not a good thing.

At your level , Id look at the lvl 78 irons... its not part of a clubset, and does have a fast meter, but they are very accurate when dinged.

Also for driver, wait 1 more level and you can get the macdaddy R11 lvl88
