If you're a kid, with no patience, who disconnects in online games after a couple of holes...... don't bother reading any further.

I'm 55 and currently very frustrated with life, after losing my job last Christmas and not finding anything suitable yet. For the benefit of our American brothers, that's been a real 'bummer' and so WGT is proving to be, after only five days since I first clapped eyes on it.

I have coped with most things in life, having been here a while. Major spine surgery.... a bit of cancer.....lost part of a finger in a door etc. etc. However, nothing could ever have prepared me for WGT, when I saw an advert for it on my local football club's website. ' Play for free ' it said and as I was getting a bit bored playing Tiger Woods 9, on my PS2, I did. Within a few hours, I had registered, I was hooked and the rest seems like it has spanned Months....... not five days !

I managed to build up some credits,by selling my soul to the Devil, only to buy what I thought was better equipment....... and watch in horror as my 'speed meter' got quicker and quicker, to the point where I would have needed Superman's vision to see it at all. I played online a few times and felt embarrassed, as one British kid lost his patience, started 'F****ing' on the chat, about the time people were taking with their shots and quickly disconnected after one of our American friends put him right in the picture. I've tried a couple of the Monthly tournaments, made a complete idiot of myself and didn't spot that one I played today had an entrance fee of 500 credits, which took all my hard earned money in one go and left me with 'diddley squat '. My fault entirely. Hands up !
To say that I am running out of patience, would be a gross understatement. I can hear all the sensible people now talking about patience and practice..... and they're probably right. I'm not a stupid person and having played Tiger Woods for some time, I understand the basics better than someone who hasn't. The question is...... will I ever be able to pitch out of one bunker, without ending up in the bunker on the other side of the green? Will I ever be able to chip from the rough on the edge of the green, without only moving it about a foot and still being in the rough? And...... will I ever be able to hit that bloody meter on the 'sweet spot', when it really matters ?
I love this game, but my patience is running at about the same speed as my 'shot meter' right now !

    Yes.

Probably not...chip is not the shot that is called for here. Trajectory of a chip is no higher than the rough itself.

Yes.  Just as in real golf ,    timing , muscle memory , repetition = good ball striking.

Just my opinion , but for starters , (as later on you can get more creative) , but for now , I would simply change those 2 shot selections ,   try "flopping" from those greenside bunkers...and try "pitching" from the greenside rough / fairway.

                                                                                                                        Ace

Look in your "bag".  Click on your ball and try the ones I sent you...should help out with your wedges at least.

If the meter speed with your current clubs is an issue, you may never be able to master it. I'm not trying to be rude or insulting, just honest. BUT you've only been here 5 days. I bet in a month you'll improve on your dings 10 fold.

The best advice I can give you is on your next club update look at whatever Raptor clubs you can buy at your level. They tend the have about the slowest meter of all the aftermarket equipment.

If you use upgraded balls find the one you can keep affording to buy that has the most dots of feel. The more dots of feel the slower the meter.

As for the short game issues, all I can say is practice practice practice. Create a stroke play practice round by yourself get it up around the green and practice. Chip, pitch, flop, full shot use them all from all lies. Once on the green putt it back off and do it again. It will eventually max out on strokes (6 over par) but you can do the same thing on every hole, every course.

I've been here for a year and a half or so and have played over a thousand ranked rounds. But I still go make practice rounds when I'm struggling or when I get new equipment.

One more thing. TAKE NOTES! Even if it's every shot you take. Eventually you'll be able to stop taking so many notes and you can refer back to them when you find yourself in a repeatable situation.

Good luck. You'll get it. Give it time.

Quite impressive for 5 days. Why on earth are you moaning all ready? Hack to Pro in 5 days, I have been a Master for ever and it just gets worse and better at the same time. If your here to have fun, then get on with it. If your that serious your in for a long row to hoe. It can be very frustrating if you have no patience. Welcome to WGT. A lot of great folks on here, meet some of them.

5 days? It took me months to get the hang of it, look on it as a long term challenge.
