Callaways and yardage

  On some shots, i've noticed the callaway balls don't give you the extra yardage they're meant to.  This is a real pain, as i remember how much extra yardage each club is with the callaway balls, but you then work it out when aiming only for the extra yardage not to be added.  For example, with the callaways my 160 yard iron is 168/169, now it just went 157 on the par 3 at Royal St. george, and at Cabo-Del-Sol, my 190 yard iron went 189 yards with 10 mph tailwind, when it should go at least 199+ (even without wind).  We buy the balls at $3 a go, so it would be good if they gave you the extra yardage on all shots. 

  Possibilities could be:  1) that wind didn't effect shot, or 2) Callaways didn't give the extra yardage, 3) Deviation or 4) i messed up LOL

  Does any one else have certain shots when the callaways extra yardage doesn't seem to be there?

  had plenty of shots that don't go the dist, in my case i usually opt for reason 4) :)

  but had one shot with a 21 tail wind that went the usual (windless) dist for that club - a six iron into BP#10 from memory

  reported it but no response

  so i reckon big anomalies might be a hole in the wind

  Just now, i'm in country club tournament which was winner takes all, i was 132 from pin, 16 mph tailwind, used the 125 yard PW, it went 125 YARDS.  Come on this is getting a bit tiresome.  Either the wind disappeared or no extra yardage.  But either way, its cost me a birdie and maybe lost credits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (hope not)

  When you have a chance of loosing your $$ because of aspects like this of the game, its not right at all. I try my best to play a good round, but then get let down by wind going on holiday.  When its a $$ round, the game should be PERFECT, and up to your skill on aiming, hitting ding & putting to decide the round, not WGT's inconsistancies or deviation.

  (to top it all off, i had a 49 yard punched shot, no back spin, land near pin, and then spun back 5 yards ON A PUNCHED SHOT..WITH NO SPIN>>COME ON)

  Since writing this, i've picked up my game, was -3 at 8, now i'm -10 at 16th (Kiwah), and feel a bit better since writing the above, so sorry again..lol.  Just hope the 2 birdies that slipped away wont come back to haunt me.  It was a single play winner takes all tourney of 2800, so every shot counts, thats why i was so frustrated of shots going astray for lack of wind.  But i think WGT has made it up to me LOL.

  ...that wind sounds right to me... I usually use the same formula for figuring out slope that I use for a down wind shot of, devided by 3 ...for example you said you had a 132y shot with a 16 mph tailwind?... to me that means, I would subtract only 5 yards (16 mph divided by 3 = 5y)...so I woulda hit that about 127y but seeing that your club only goes to 125 you should have hit it with no back spin letting it roll to the pin and you probably would have got it there...i dont know if you've ever experimented with not using full bs or ts but it's well worth the trial and error! ...just my 2 bits, hope it helps...Tee

  i'll never forget the time i played a PW shot with my old irons.  Cant quite remember what the exact yardage was but i alowed maybe 8 yards or so extra for the wind that was 17 in my my face.  It turned out it was pretty good distance for a 100% PW.  The shot actually went further in the 17mph headwind than it would have in 0 wind...and that was all carry, no bounce and run.  Just crazy chit sometimes happens.
