my point was i'm spotting 60 yards he has an r11 driver also.I didnt call anyone a cheat.WGT and the current system allows people to advance in levels with out necessarily advances their tier, consequently they can have the3 same clubs available ,and have the advantage of a much closer teebox..dont have to be a rocket scientist to figure the advantages of someone not posting ranked stroked play games.Ive been here almost 2 years and i see the evidence of that.My point was the previous system of  gear for particular tiers was earned and fair.A system, where an individual can circumvent and get an r11 as a pro [or whatever tier] and get the advantage of much closer teebox,is flawed. That was my point. And people are out there taking advantage of that,                                In response to tgamne   the post was  aimed to intelligent players.I was pointing out a serious flaw in the current system.I play the game and i'm not the least bit obsessed. But to understand that tgame a person has to have an open mind..not a ratass complex.....i think your doing it wrong!!  Some people engage that hole under their nose before engaging their brain.    FYI  Hey Nick   tgame is a master....surprisingly there is not ONE person on his friends list.BIG shocker there!!!   LOL   My point with this master with a 58 ave.level 92 with over 1400 alt-play games and only 70 ranked games.if you dont see someone taking advantage of a broken system..i have this primo car to sell ya!

Never realized what a distinct disadvantage it is until I was matched up against a master and tour master in our CC vs CC matches. Same drive but I was constantly approaching with 4 or 5-iron while they were approaching with wedges and consequently I usually had to putt twice the distance...very tough against players at that level. Early on it appears wgt tried to prevent sandbagging by making some equipment available to only pros or better..but they stopped there, never giving the same respect to those of us who struggled to become legends. There are some simple solutions. Make the best equipment available to legends only (hopefully pushing all to reach their highest possible tier), or 'freezing' levels until players have enough ranked rounds to advance. In either case, however, wgt might lose revenue (always their first priority) so neither likely to happen. Currently, as far as I can tell, the lone equipment available to legends-only is a piece of crap ball. Myself, I would get bored to death trying to keep a high average just to be on shorter tees but the way it's set up now there is almost no incentive to reach legend.

I came across sandbagging for the first time today.  I thought the term only really applied to those who do it to keep their tier low for tournament play, but this guy didn't play much tournaments at all, or ranked stroke games.

Anyway, I was playing him and his partner in an AS game.  Both were Tour Pro and Level 90+, both with the R11 driver, latest burner irons, etc.  I'm playing off the Master tees with my 250yd K15, my partner playing off Tour Pro but using the Starter Tour clubs.  Basically, we had no chance whatsoever as we were being outdriven by 60+ yds every single hole - our only chance was on the par 3s.

It's pretty infuriating, so from now on i'm only going to play AS games where the minimum tier is Master.  I don't mind playing someone with an R11 who is at Master tier, his advantage will usually only be around 30-40yds which I can try to make up with my decent iron/wedge game.

It's also very noticable that these guys tend to play on the courses with longer holes - BPB and Congressional.  I've started setting up games only on Kia and SA, as the advantage from the longer drivers is much less pronounced imo.

it really is unfortunate that due to fudging with the system that you cant enjoy the game in its entirety but keep playin and just enjoy. What comes around SHOULD go around.....but...........................

I only found a few days ago that AS games pay decent XP, so since then i've decided to do a little "fudging" of my own.  No more stroke play (other than the free tourneys) for me until I get to a level where I can purchase a decent driver.

This was the reason why I posted the thread about "drivers and the level/tier gap" - it's ridiculous that just because you play the game correctly, and try your hardest to progress up the tiers, you get penalised like this.  At the very least, the drivers should be available on an "and/or" basis i.e you can purchase a certain driver, say the G10, if you reach level 58 OR you reach Master tier.

I have seen a TON of THESE POST about SANDBAGGERS.

Here is what makes me scratch my head - I seen all of them that get beat by somebody that they feel had no way of beating them in the first place, get mad because they got out played and/or i.e. OUT THOUGHT.

The movie Tin Cup comes to mind here / Player says to other player, I bet you I can hit the ball farther then you can. Of course he gets upset, says no you can't and I will prove it. First Pro tees up smacks it out done the practice fairway, the second Pro turns and hits his ball out on to the driveway to clubs where he turns and smile while saying looks like mine is rolling farther then you did.

Hence leads to my point on this whole SANBAGGER out cry, and demand that something be done to bring it to a stop.

Well what are you going to do? Get mad and stop playing all together, lol not hardly, you like the game to much for all of that now don't you? But not a single one of you that thinks you are un-beatable by a lower tiered player thinks you should get beat by someone - who has figured out hit it down the DRIVEWAY - to smoke you bad.

And yes just like fvictor / Glas67 / and myself have learned when playing these SO CALLED fair tourneys where we are at in the grand scheme of things places us in the GAP of a level playing system. My first match up in tourney partner and I was paired against like teed players, where we teetered back and worth ended up winning by 3 strokes - in a strokes play tourney. Just played our next pairing of partners where we was paired against Legends both having average scores in the low 60's partner and I having averages of 70 and 77.

How many of you think we had a chance to beat the Legends on Bethpage Black, they having the best of everything they could get. Yeah you are right, we got smoked by more then 10 strokes. Out of the Tee Boxes they are hitting 310 plus / we hit 254 to 268 respectfully from the Pro - Tour Pro boxes. Their second shots coming in to tourney speed greens sticking like glued, ours coming in like a ball bearing tossed on a concrete pad. Every shot they made on to greens stuck like darts inside 12 feet of cup, ours hit bounce, bounce trickle roll final stop green edges or ruff. Was it close not really, was crazy to watch a player hitting from 20 to 40 yards behind me out drive me by more then 40 yards every shot he had to that was insane 333 was one the other was 340 plus. Remember I said we got beat by more the 10 strokes that was each of us not a team total - team total was 25 strokes over or under depending on how you would like to say it, point is we lost, we took our beat down and moved on, we are knocked out of the tourney play because we did not keep our scores low enough to win pairings.

And you all cry that the field needs to be leveled to make it "FAIR FOR EVERYBODY" but if I come in and shoot a round that is 10 to 15 strokes BELOW my average score - I AM CHEATING, I HAVE TO BE CHEATING but that is what I have to shoot TO WIN with the way it is set-up.

FOR ALL OF US GETTING SMOKED DO YOU SEE US MAKING 50 PLUS TOPICS ABOUT IT saying how it is not fair, or our opponent HAD to be CHEATING, no you don't.
We take our beatings and go on, still wish all you guys a good game and good luck, and just because I don't stroke your EGO because you can stick a shot from 150 plus out like a dart board, do I really need to stroke your ego for that? I mean after all you paid the money to get those results so why do I need to stroke your ego and give you a pat on the back for doing what I can't because the GEAR IS NOT open for me to have.

And the next time you guys get SMOKED by a low tiered player - just remember all those times you beat your opponent of a lesser tier by more then 10 strokes, and felt good about doing it. Karma is a funny thing it always has a way of finding it's way back.

That figured out a way to hit it down the driveway / big deal. Maybe their needs to be more thought on how to keep the game fun and less on how to allow select players to buy gears that only they can use, so they can hit 340 plus yard drives, bounce them off rocks and other objects to gain distance. Do you do it in real life like that? Who is it that says "The Most Realistic Golf Game On The Market".

I have plenty more I could go on about / but does anybody really give 2 flying flips about any of it? Not likely .....

I can fully appreciate your philosophy here but i was referring to the crooked minded player that circumvents the system ,and takes full advantage of the loopholes. If they have that approach in a damn online golf game ..that is a reflection of their real life experiences. It doesnt bother me spotting yards.from the furthest teebox that is a norm for me.My posts are self explanatory as to my attitude on this subject.tho your post ...tin cup one of my fav flix....it had very little to do with my subject matter. Some rants are funny but have little to do with the original post.

The original WGT FORMAT was based on tier performance only...master tier ...appropriate clubs.Clubs acquisition now is  based on WGT's pocket book only...my humble opinion they are throwing parody put the window strictly for cash purposes and to hell with fairness.
