I just dont understand it... if you have a lie in the rough 40 - 50, and you are using a lets say a150yd club. Shouldnt the ball only travel 75yds??  I mean 50% of 150 is 75.. or am I misunderstanding the 40 - 50 rough lie ... Is there a formula for calculating how far a certain club will travel out of the rough.. or sand for that matter according to "lie"?

    hi

there is no specific formula. each 40/50 lie plays differently , depending on clubs, lie angle, and distance to the pin among others. generally it loses 10-15 yards per club and alot more when you hit longer clubs. best to practice it :)

The percentage given is the amount of the ball that is covered, It does not mean the amount of resistance to the shot.
