WGTChampion -
I'd like to make a suggestion for handling tiebreaks on live stroke-play events: any players in a tie for first compete in a 3-hole showdown to determine the winner.
As exciting as today's Live Series championship was, imagine how exciting an IrishKing vs. Young46 showdown would have been!
The current tiebreak system doesn't make sense to me based on precedent set in other WGT event formats:
* Live match play events are decided by extra holes, not tiebreaks
* Live showdown / coin-room matches are decided on a single closest-to-the-hole shot (a last resort if successive showdowns still result in a tie)
* Non-live stroke play events are decided by tiebreaks, which makes sense since the players are not all playing at the same time (not the case in live stroke play events)
Just a suggestion that I think would make the Live Series and other live stroke play championships more exciting, more equitable, and closer to real golf than the current tiebreak system. Thanks for your consideration.
