I believe there may be some generalized factors used by WGT, but I also believe as players have discovered some possible contributing factors, that they can or have exploited them to speed up a promotion for whatever reason similar to what some would do by using match play on flash.
Most of the time I would say it is largely experienced based progression in the coin rooms with a reasonable degree of proficiency. But since some have stumbled across players that don't seem to be quite as good as expected- either other factors are at play OR a family member picked up their mobile device and was trying out the game to see what it was like. For example, maybe a parent has hundreds of millions of coins and a child ask to play to see what the parent appears to enjoy playing. So they let them play a few games knowing they could lose over and over and it wouldn't matter to their coin bankroll.
Beyond that, I could speculate but that is all it would be... I think you would have to know the various examples the amount of activity in coin rooms, win loss records, which coin rooms they actually play, and whether others are throwing games to them in order to help them build their coin bankroll so they can be more active during TW's for their club.
Can be challenging to nail down specifics without tracking a variety of data points.
