What are your thoughts on the new Ghost Putter? Is it worth  giving up a 1/3 of a dot of precision for a full dot of forgivness.

I have the old Ghost and been missing the ding by hitting just in front of it, wonder if that extra dot of forgiveness will help?

    Thanks

    Gary

The slower meter alone is worth it, Gary. The ding is insanely easy to hit after using the first Ghost.

Well bought it , and it looks like the extra dot for forgiveness was wrong, well that was a waist of money.

The meter is sloooooooooow  I will say that

LMAO. You ain't had that putter anywhere near long enough to know that. If you're expecting the forgiveness of the putter to allow you to exclusively aim by missing you're right-you wasted your money. You can ding your putts now. Leave the missing behind and start dinging them instead. THEN you'll see how it forgives.

    Plus, clear your Flash cache.

LMAO,  I thought the forgiveness was not hitting the ding, I have a habit of stopping just before the ding line ( don't know why just do )

I understand if I aim wrong the putter does not have a homing devise to the hole. ( all tho that would be nice)  LMAO

    Thanks JIm for the reply

P.S. I did clear my flash

Having used the ghost for about 4 hours I got the hang of it. it certainly does the job. up till now I have been stuck with the wgt putter and I struggled, but this makes it a whole new ball game, I admit the slow meter takes a bit of getting use to, but the distance meter incraments more than make up for it.

    Regards

My problem with accurate putters is that if the ball goes exactly where I aim it, that does not help me if I am not aiming in the right place.

In other words, my reading of the greens is a lot less accurate than my putter is.

In yet other words (by Fuzzy Zoeller), the problem in my case is not the putter, but the puttee.

(I mostly use the Daytona because the 'old' Ghost, though more accurate, is too fast for me to ding consistently.)

I purchased the spider ghost (L66) when it first hit the shelves and gave it a lenghty test. I had initially hoped it would replace me Daytona Rossa (L55) which I had grown fond of (at the time my putter of choice). The extra dot and a half I felt was a no brainer.

Having used the putter on all courses and attempted all sorts of difficult putts I decided to shelve if after (2/3 weeks of testing) .  The sole reason is that on longer to mid range putts where power ( 20/30/40/50) is required the spiders attempt can fall anywhere up to 7/10/12 feet short if the ding is missed (even if missed by only a fraction).  It is those long putts that you need help from your putter and the L66 Spider Ghost does not provide that. On the contrary, it now gives me the sh*ts.

I reverted back to another putter the Daytona Ghost (L84) as that came with more precision but crucially when faced with a long putt, I knew at the back of my mind that if I missed the ding the putt would still travel the set amount (if not then very, very close).

I must thank the Spider Ghost (L66) as it showed me how good my Daytona Ghost (L84) was. Up until then I had been a Daytona Rossa (L55) man through and through and had not fully appreciated how good my Daytona Ghost was.

The Daytona Ghost (L84) is now my putter of choice hands down.  I recently made an 88 footer with it having missed the ding.  I know hand on heart had I attempted the same putt with the Spider Ghost (L66) it would have fallen 15 foot short if the ding had been similarly missed.

So New Ghost vs Old Ghost. Easy for me, Old Ghost !

    Hope this post helps

A lesson I found out. it's no good having the best if you have trouble reading the green, which was my trouble, so I spent a lot of time on the practice greens untill  I got a good idea on how to read the breaks, hard grind but worth the effort .

I have no clue what you have done to your L66 Ghost Spider putter, but mine is working like a charm. Never once since I got it have I even considered going back to the Rossa. Even if I miss the ding to either side, the putt still ends up where I meant it to, give or take a few inches. Even if dinging it isn't that hard, I still hole putts when I don't, which was rarely the case with the Rossa (which was my biggest pet peeve with that putter).

I think I lowered my total putting stat by 0.08 since I got it, even though I am further from the flag now, due to the new LG tees. It's a great club imho.
