I was about to buy a new 3wd today. Had been planning to upgrade from L51 Cally to L86 Cally.

But. There seems to be a brand new club available. 4,5 precision and 5,5 forgiveness sounds quite attractive for me...

Has anyone had a chance to try the Mizuno yet?

They just released it last night.

You could always rent it first or wait until someone posts a comment about it.

I’m definitely renting this during a free rental period. Looks to be a step up from the L86.

Comparison to the Callaway L86 3W:

Basically, you get a little more precision and a LOT more forgiveness, but a noticeably faster meter, all for about 1,000 credits more.

I'll be trying it during the next Free Rental weekend, too.  I'm interested to see how 5.5 Forgiveness plays, given that every 3W I've ever used played like it had zero forgiveness despite what its forgiveness rating said.

I don’t think it’s for me. 8 yards is a lot to give up. If it were rated at 245 I might consider it but at 242 no.

I’m going to go check out a 4 meter club versus 4.4, I’m not sure about the difference any longer. But just to have that extra forgiveness has me giddy

Do you notice much difference in the med/high trajectory 3W versus a high trajectory club?  I really like how a ball hit using the L86 can drop down with fbs.

I rented the Mizuno. Comparing to the L86 Cally that I had tested during the previous free rental weekend I found out that distancewise they perform pretty similar from tee, but there is a notable difference from fairway. With its slightly lower trajectory when hit form fairway, Mizuno carries shorter than Cally.

If anyone is interested here is the data, measured with both clubs at Kiawah 1 using rock (the free ball).

    From tee (L90 Mizuno / L86 Cally):

    - Carry with full backspin 242 / 242

    - Apex, full backspin 93 / 96

    - Total distance, no spin 256 / 258

    From fairway:

    - Carry, full backspin 217 / 221

    - Apex, full backspin  69 / 72

    - Total distance, no spin 234 / 235

    *Edit: corrected data
