Thanks to all who replied to my first post concerning "expensive balls".

I have completed another test and this one is much more accurate than the first one. I don't know how many hits a ball should take before being replaced and couldn't seem to find that info.

For this second test I used  'World Golf Tour Tour-SD Vapor Balls' that  had 1 1/2 filled in dots of durability compared to the Callaway Tour i(s) Balls with 2 1/2 filled in dots of durability.

    After going through my activity and score records I came up with;

    4- 9 hole Blitz rounds...36 hits

    2-18 hole rounds..72 & 75 hits

    1-9 hole round..36 hits

For a total of 219 hits using 2 balls or approx. 108 hits per ball.

Does this sound about right per ball based on their durability? About 1 1/2 normal 18 hole games per ball.

Since I now know I can accurately, instead of guessing,  use these records to determine  my number of hits per ball, I'll go back and refigure the Callaway balls..

Seems this is a lot of ado for nothing but these balls are to expensive to buy a 3-pack per day.

    Rzbk:

    2-18 hole rounds..72 & 75 hits

    1-9 hole round..36 hits

Quick question in regards to your counting.   Are you including putts with these numbers?  As I recall, putts do not count toward a balls life expectancy.

    Rzbk:
For a total of 219 hits using 2 balls or approx. 108 hits per ball.

otherwise these numbers may be off if you were counting the putts.

yes i did count the putts. at 2 per hole x 45 leaves us with 65 hits per ball.no the best deal around.

    This chart compliments of Racoondad

Don't be fooled by the durability dots. The rule-of-thumb is: better balls cost more -- no kidding.

Ball Type Durability Hits 9-hole round
    per ball*
    9-hole round
    per $**

    WGT GI3-D 1.5-dot 110 5.2 Rd/ball 16.7 Rd/$ andyson
    WGT Tour GI-SD 1-dot 90 4.3 Rd/ball 11.5 Rd/$
    WGT Legend GI2-SD2 1.5-dot 95 4.5 Rd/ball 8.8 Rd/$ andyson
    Callaway Tour i(s) 2.5-dot 120 5.7 Rd/ball 6.9 Rd/$
    Callaway Tour i(z) 2.5-dot 120 5.7 Rd/ball 5.7 Rd/$
    Legend Callaway Tour i(z) 2-dot 98 4.7 Rd/ball 4.7 Rd/$ twominusone

    * It is calculated based on 21 hits per 9-hole round (par 36 with 67% green-in-regulation).
** This is the number of 9-hole rounds you can play with every dollar (or 100 credits) you spend on the type of balls (base price)

For what it's worth, after seeing this chart I counted shots on a WGT Tour SD (1.5 dots) -- got 110. A Srixon will be next. I thought they'd be a "cheaper" everyday ball cuz of the extra durability dots, but maybe not...

... but may be a middle point between the more expensive and the cheaper one... Tha can be the sirion!

Actually the only reason I keep buying Callaways is for the "feel", it is imposible to shot the burners without it lol...
