I would like to know the reason why, that when I've used up my last Calloway before a round is complete that I'm not given the next best ball in the bag ? Should it not default to the ones I've paid for rather than ignoring the Srixons and WGT-13's and leaving me to finish with a starter ball ? I'm sure there's people that have no idea this is even happening ? Can this be corrected please ?

Typical golf standards are that if you run out of the balls that you started the round with, you have to use house balls for the remainder of the event you are playing in.. same rules apply here.

Typical where? I have never heard of that before. It may be true on the PGA tour, but I've never seen a problem with this before. At times we will even use a cheaper ball than a Pro-V1 when hitting over water and then switch back again. They can't apply obscure tourney rules like that without applying other things as well. Why are all balls in the woods and the water automatically lost then, without the time and opportunity to recover them ? Why do balls on the lip never fall in after a few seconds? Why is it never raining ?

I have had a few that did. True not very often but I've had 2 or 3 that did fall

Any tournament that I've ever played in has been this way.. and I can assure you, it wasn't on the PGA tour.

OK,but since most have us have never played in a "tournament",why should this "rule" apply to every round we play including alt shot,a quick 9 with a friend, practice and everything else where there's nothing at stake ???

I don't particularly like it.. but all I can say, it is what it is.  I was only pointing out a possibility.

If I'm not mistaken, a player running out of balls during a round can obtain more balls from "any source" (even from their opponent!).....provided that he or she doesn't unduly delay play in the process.

From a practical standpoint, that basically leaves only your opponent(s) as a source, unless you happen to lose your last ball right beside the pro-shop and can quickly dash in and pick up another dozen?

I'm guessing that if this happened on the PGA, there would be a caddy position available the next week...lol

I agree with the OP though...if I have numerous diferent varieties of balls available to me, why does it always default to the starter balls if I run out of one particular type?
