So I just advanced to Legend tier a couple days ago. Ever since then, my clubs are completely out of whack. My irons distances are way off from what they’ve always been, as well as my woods. I know my tee box is further box, but my driving distance has gone in the tank. Because of the tee box being back, and my driver losing distance, some holes I can’t even reach the fairway from the tee. And my approach shots have lost the stopping power on the green that they’ve always had. I know I’m due for club upgrades, I was trying to wait til mid 90’s to do so. Cause with the clubs I’ve been using, my 18 hole average is low 60’s. But since my tier up, my average has jumped to nearly 69. It seems the whole game has been flipped upside down for me. Very very frustrating. Even my putting accuracy is gone way down, it almost seems as though greens are breaking differently. I’m sure that one is in my head, but I am just very frustrated. Is this WGT way of getting its players to buy? There’s definitely something going on. I play several times a day, and it’s a pretty obvious difference. I have not changed balls or apparel in a long time. Do I just need to bite the bullet and buy new clubs now? Has anyone else ever noticed this, or is it a known fact that once advancing to legend, the gameplay becomes more difficult? Thank you everyone!

    A few remarks:

Yes, the game becomes more "sensitive" with higher tiers.

Your average has been reset when moving up. Only the scores played later contribute to your current average.

Standard green speed has changed for you as well.

You may need some help. Generally fellow members of your country club would give you suggestions as well as play with you. But you belong to an orphan club (one where the owner has died, i.e. left WGT) so there might not be an active group of players. Only 14 of your fellow members have played this year.

As a newly minted Legend you do tee off from the parking lot so you are looking at an investment in clubs. But the game has not changed. It is still about using skills to get the ball from the tee to the hole. Approach shots that called for a 5 iron or less now require 3 iron or even 3 wood shots. Green speed went up at the same time. A double whammy.

If you search forum posts you will likely find all sorts of threads dealing with equipment. Getting some friends and playing with them can give you ideas about how to approach holes what shots might work best. The game has now become one of knowledge so the more you learn about your clubs and the courses the better you will play.
