Degree's of wind

  Hello, really my mathematical ability is not as good as yours, although for a while I studied topography and I had to use trigonometry for my calculations. But unfortunately my brain has forgotten many things and I am not able to re-enter calculations that in the end only make my head go crazy.

  Now a reflection, maybe someone thinks that they are my speculations, but you have not noticed that when you move the flag for your blow and you use a different camera to the place of the blow, when you return to the original camera the direction of the wind arrow has changed ?

  I wish I could understand a lot of the insights you bring here, as my real fun in this game is hitting from the fairway with my irons or wedges, as my putting unfortunately never worked well.

  This definitely happens, I see it in coin games and tourneys where the wind is high. 

  I believe the wind is shown from the where the camera is, sometimes the camera and your avatar are not in the same spot- if that makes sense.

  I've kind of lost track of this thread but if you are referring to this image...

     ...then I believe the percentages refer to the amount of the wind that is effectively pushing the ball forwards or backwards.

  So at half past 2 for example (left to right wind), you have a figure of 26%. This means that 26% of the wind force is pushing the ball forwards and 74% of the wind force is pushing it sideways. Therefore if you have a 10mph wind in the half past 2 direction (left to right wind), you effectively have a 2.6mph (26% of 10mph) wind pushing the ball forwards, and a 7.4mph (74% of 10mph) wind pushing the ball sideways.

  The picture is correct, but your interpretation of it is incorrect.

  Go back and read page 1 of this thread.  Pay special attention to what DufferJohn7 said, and my follow-up illustration of what he said.  

  The percentages (forwards and sideways) do not add up to 100%.  It's not percentages.  It's sines and cosines.

  Using your example of a 10mph wind in the half past 2 direction (left to right wind):

  2:30 is 15°

  sin 15° = .26, so forward wind push is 2.6mph

  cos 15° =  .97, so sideways wind push is 9.7 mph
