Now, now, children, please be nice!
If I could give you some advice,
    I'd say check out Mizuno's 3
It's always worked quite well for me

    Forgiveness on it's 5.5
Which means your ball should still arrive
On most Par 5s at center green -
The most forgiving wood I've seen

    It's also High trajectory
    For clearing obstacles you see
    Like greenside bunkers, fairway bumps,
And Par 3 greens with slopes and humps

If this sounds good to you, I'd say
Go try it out next Rental Day
    I think you'll find it's worth a shot
To see if it works for you or not

Interesting poetics, especially the meter. Anyone care to try composing an epic on the 3 wd in dactylic hexameter?

But seriously…the Mizuno 3 wd. Haven’t heard that one mentioned in awhile. I played it for a short while and had to replace it. Forgiveness stats were great, but I had major yardage issues. When first acquired the club consistently played 242 yds from the fairway. However about 6 weeks later, yardage reverted to 227 yds per hit. I tried every kind of spin with it and 227 was it. Yes it was the lvl 90, not the lvl 40 something. Is there a secret to making that club perform up to spec?

Thus, I refer to him as mostly right.

I'll try mine with the same spec Titleist ball you have and report back.

Was it something to do with your apparel , did you change your clothes perhaps ?

No, no apparel enhancement for the 3 wd are used. My Callie 3 wd performs according to spec - roughly 250 from the fairway, 270 from the tee. My Mizuno was just cursed I guess. My last shot with the club was on #18 Erin Hills. Second shot from the fairway with a tail wind, 235 yds to clear the left hand fairway bunker, tailwind at my back, dinged the shot, the ball rifled off, according to TopTracer ball landed in the bunker at 227 yds. At that point I said no more.

    Sam,

Thanks that would be interesting to see your results as you are a seasoned user.

I played the Best of Par 5s F9 tonight with the L90 Mizuno 3WD and the same Titleist Pro V1x Ultra Slow Meter Vapor Ball (L0+) you use.  The chart below shows my results.

I hit the Mizuno both off the tee and on my first approach shot on every hole except #6 (where I was too close and had to hit 3 iron).  I hit the ding or was very close to it every shot.

I had a variety of winds, and tried a variety of spins.  I played the course as a CC tournament (no apparel boosts).

Judge for yourself, but I really think it plays just fine.  I'm seeing the distances I would expect given its specs and the specs of the Titleist ball.
