Who wants to try something a little different?

Drop A Club Challenge (DACC) Here is the challenge. Before each tee shot, you need to determine one club in your bag that you will not use for the rest of the round. There are 14 clubs in your bag. So before taking your first tee shot, you commit to not using 1 of them for the entire round. You repeat this on every hole adding 1 more club to the list of clubs you can't use for the rest of the round. (This is all done on the honor system) Doing this on every hole, by the time you are standing on the 9th tee, there will be 9 clubs you can not use to play that hole, and 5 clubs left that you can use. Post your results on this post. Be sure to include your final score, and the 9 clubs you eliminated in order.

    RULES:

1- No restarts. This is single play (honor system)

2- Before every tee shot, note 1 more club you will not use for the rest of the round (honor system) (This means you will already choose and drop your first club before you play #1)

3- Post your results here. List your score and the clubs that you quit using in order.

4 - Course is Wk 53 9 Hole Unlimited Play. We will use this tournament so all WGT players can play and so players can play it again normal if they like. This week is at Royal St Georges.

Other Notes: I will do a random drawing for a sleeve of balls for someone who plays and posts their score here. This will also be the one practice round for next month. If there is any interest in this at all. I will do it again each of the first 4 weeks of the new year. Each week I will do another random drawing for a sleeve of balls. And I will also give a sleeve of balls to the player who posts the lowest total score for weeks 1-4. Those first 4 weeks will also use the WGT 9 Hole Unlimited Play, and will also include the No Restart Rule

Feel free to talk about your round, your mistakes, successes, and what you wish you had done different. Invite your friends to join in the fun(?).

    Go low & have fun

Thanks for being the first to post!

This was true for me too. I got real lucky with the winds and had a red hot putter though. A hot putter erases a lot of bad choices. 😂

    10- pw

    11- 8i

    12- 6i

    13- 4i

    14- 3w

    15- 75Y w

    16- 3i

    17- 5i

    18- 9i

26, thanks to Lady Luck being on the bag for me. I thought I would be smart and carry my 115Y wedge so I could drop the pw early. Sadly I wasn't smart enough to equip my 80Y wedge. Consequently I ended up trying to stretch my 75Y wedge 85 yards a couple times. I made the 10'+ putts on both those holes, and then was rewarded on #13 when I holed out from 125 yards using that 115Y wedge. My only errors had nothing to do with the clubs I had left to use. I carried my 3i too far onto the green on 14 and slammed it into the hill causing it to roll back and leaving me a longish putt up the hill. Then on 18 I played too conservative and left the bird up to my putter. I burned the edge with a longish putt giving me my only par on the round.

I like different stuff.  And random prizes . . . . This was fun!

Bogeyed #5 when a meter skip put me in the right OOB, but birdied #8, so 35 score as the rest were pars.

What a great idea for a tournament. It was fun to try to think ahead to determine what clubs I would need.  I actually did much better than I thought I would and managed to always have the club I need (or one that was close enough).  I ended up shooting a 33, but it easily could have been a 31 if I wouldn’t have putted my 3rd shoot off the green on 18, 4th shot chip was short and rolled back off the green again, ended up with a double bogey. All that after being so pleased with myself after sticking my approach shot on 18 with a reasonable chance at a 5th birdie.  Birdies on 3, 5, 6 and 8 were very satisfying!

    1 - 3i

    2 - 60 deg

    3 - 5i

    4 - 7i

    5 - pw

    6 - 8i

    7 - 3 wood

    8 - 64 deg

    9 - 9i

Funny thing was that I expected to drop my 3 wood right away, but I kept running into massive head winds so I held it much longer and glad I did.

Thanks, that was a great challenge. I’m pleasantly surprised and happy with my 32. I decided before starting what clubs and in what order I would eliminate, but changed my mind on 3 as I played. I was lucky enough to have a club that was close enough on every shot. Birdied 3, 5, and 7.

    1. 5i
    2. W - 50
    3. 7i
    4. 9i
    5. 4i
    6. W - 80
    7. 8i
    8. 3W
    9. PW

This tournament reminds me of when my friends and I played a tournament in Palm Springs in the middle of summer and then played a 9 hole course at our condo after. The kicker was we could only carry and use only 3 clubs each for the entire round. We would play in the evenings when it was starting to cool down and finished the 9th when it was too dark to see the hole.
