I love this!! Very timely. I had just finished my rhyme/poem (posted in a new thread) when I saw your prose. Dang it, I said to myself, not only did OPYONE KEBOGEY beat me to the punch, but he said it in so many less words. (Please, Puregro, no OPYONE memes, I already have created the pic for a upcoming Hoperman (possibly))...
Anyway, today is National Dog Day, for real!!
Coincedentally, I had penned a silly piece of prose the other day (posted in a POETRY, PROSE thread in our club forum) without knowing today was such an important day. So, here it is....
I noticed you right away, from across the street.
I followed you home.
I watched you open the door and as you stepped inside,
With your hand you beckoned me to follow.
You smiled, as I tracked mud across your floor.
You gave me some food and once I was fed,
you stroked my ear and brought me into your bed.
I laid my head across your breast.
You rubbed my back as I closed my eyes to rest.
I felt warm, a feeling of belonging wrapped in your arm.
I woke up to your smile and I licked your cheek.
You spoke, but I did not understand.
The sound was soft, soothing to hear.
You gave me a name and said I was yours.
It has been a long time since I felt this way.
I felt at home and wanted to stay.
You put a collar around my neck, you spoke, we are not done yet.
Tomorrow morning, you said, you go to the vet.
HAVE YOU HUGGED YOUR DOG TODAY? - I did...
