    hello all

just waiting for a few teams to come in and we are ready for the live draw next saturday 8pm uk time on topps twitch channel.

i have been asked by a few memebrs and messages about the use of pitching on the green instead of putting,

as rules of golf state you can use any club from any surface to move the ball forward so this is in the rules of golf.

im not a lover of this but i cannot force players to putt instead of pitching as i want to keep the experience as real to golf as i can.

i would ask players not to pitch during the world cup as it defeats the object of the true integrety of playing golf as it should be please but if you do then so be it its your choice.

i would ask players that if this happens against you then just play your own game as i will and enjoy the experience regardless of what your opponent is doing on the greens.

i have to say its not that accurate as i saw on jasons stream last night and would i use it to win a match NO.

im saying this now and everyone will start doing it lol

ps captains get your squads over this week please.

    cheers

    Finny

Why does it defeats the object of the true integrity of playing golf?

Just asking because I have seen many pro's use this shot, so I don't understand why it's against the "true integrity of golf"

    Can someone enlighten me.... cheers

the only time i have seen pros using the pitch shot is if they have a big break putt and they have go off the green to get it back to the hole or if there is an obsticle in the way as in the par 3 6th on the riveria course where there is a bunker in the middle of the green where it would be impossible to putt.

any pro would rather have a putt on the green period.

listen this is a video loaded game pure and simple and people will always find a way to make the game easier.i used to play tomb raider and there were codes to put in to advance or make the game simpler, this is no different.

what i want is players using the clubs they should on any surface they are playing on ie the green.

what i want is fair playing field where we can all play from.

hope that makes sense to you and as i said i cant enforce it and dont want to,all im asking is to play as 99% of the players in this wgt world do.

Have to agree with dot on this one!

Pitching on greens is completely legal in golf.  In real golf, course superintendent might shoot you or ban you from course.

There are holes on PGA tour I have seen the pros use wedges on the green.

I don't normally do it ... I figure I am more accurate putting .. but I will use it occasionally if I am 60-90 feet away, especially if there is an ugly hump in the way.

It came up in my cc where we have a player who is very accurate pitching from 7-10 feet away.  My response was learn to putt better or learn his shot.  I have not tried the latter.

    Tom.

    Thanks finny & Tom,

I see both points and understand.... finny I think you're talking about folk who use the wedge all the time even from short putts, not the ones that use it from 60-100 foot range... Examples for me would be a 60-100 footer on St. Andy's 5th hole, I would putt, but on the 18th of Chambers Bay, 90 feet away on the upper tier of the green, I'm using a wedge.

I also understand what Tom says, if you want to use it learn the shot like any other you have to learn.

I would love a fair playing field as well, I wish we can have one, but with all the sheets out there that tell folk exactly how much to hit, were to aim and what not as well as folk who are using the "Phone a friend" option... well I think a fair playing field is nothing more than a pipe dream.

But as we both know Paul, all we can do is ask and hope.

Thanks for the answers all, I feel I understand it a bit better now.

    Best,

    Dotty
