Just remember to check the putter increments before you make a decision.  If you prefer the increments your current putter already has of course.

    Mythanatos:

the level 70 putter whatever name they put on it now is probably the second best putter in the game imo.

and it's a close race. could conceivably get that one and never upgrade until had a plethora of credits.

Level 70 Scotty Cameron is working for me. Normally almost 2600, I snatched one during a sale.

JAYW4862 uses a Lev30 Taylor Made Ghost Manta putter and has a damn near 70% 1-putt percentage rating.  So...the putter isn't the problem...it's the "putter".

So what do people consider is the very best putter available at the highest level , but excluding the golden one ? For ding putting . My putting is hopeless ! Not that I blame my putter it’s my inability to read putts !

In my opinion, the two best putters in the Pro Shop are the Titleist Scotty Cameron Phantom X 6 Putter Level 70 and 98 putters.

Even so, the differences between them are quite small. I believe that's true for all high-end putters.

People expect way too much out of their putters. I suppose it's to be expected because upgrades on other equipment (for example, drivers, irons, and wedges) have significant effects on a person's ability to hit better shots and score well. That doesn't necessarily hold true for putters.

The reason is the secret to putting well revolves around reading putts and not the equipment. From posts I've seen on the forum over the years, players either seem to forget that or not realize that. I know that's not true of you. But it does apply to others I've seen post.

Simply put: players can't purchase equipment that reads greens.

Hahah thanks Robert I was editing my post as you must have been posting. I do acknowledge my putting inability is down to not being able to read the putts correctly . I tend to under estimate the amount of turn , and would love a magic formula to work to. LOL

When I was tiering up, I thought good kit would do everything for me. I tried almost every putter in the pro shop at that time. I realized that the putter, as Robert suggested, is the one club where folks can play just as well with the starter as with the gold one. That is provided on two factors. That they are comfortable with it, and they can read the greens (break, speed, etc.).

Someone years ago tested the starter putter out.

Conditions were 20 foot putt. 20 putts charted. same power same place and they only counted the putts that they hit the ding.

then they put all 20 balls on the same screen.

conclusion: the starter putter is very inconsistent. there was quite a variance in where the balls ended up.

that being said there is very little difference between most of the putters.
