  hey guys,whats the deal with the 1st on saint andrews?,hit long and go in the water? c'mon its a bit crazy!,30% of the time i go for yardage and.........plop!

  hi

  that's very uncommon. i think only time i lost balls if i misclick late... you shouldn't be able to reach it unless it's straight tail, but then you can choke the driver?

  well if the wind is 25-30 Mph tail wind you can lose it... I had lost a couple that way but it depends on how you apply backspin for the drive!

  With a tail wind over 20mph I hit a bit less than full, just in case.  You'll still be in short wedge range and there's no danger of going plop.

  Funnily enough after dozens of rounds there I've holed 2 of my last 3 approach shots at this hole.  Great way to start a round.

  Mark,

  If you've got a big tailwind, try punching your driver. It consistently leaves you between 48 and 60 yds, ideal for your 64 cleveland

  Unless its a headwind I go with 3wood, leaves me good a distance for my wedges.

  I routinely punch the driver with top spin  every time. It leaves you a wedge away from either pin in any wind. If you get that monster in your face wind you can whack away full swing without worrying.

  heavy tail wind fro 5 to 8 o'clock I hit a 3 wood, still in wedge range.
