I will be manually adding prizes to those that get in the top 5

Have you ever considered to award random prize winners? It might encourage more to participate if they think they have a chance at a prize. Cheers

I would defintiely agree with this.  The top players win enough, you need to keep the interest of those who rarely-to-never win anything.  A few years ago I ran some tournaments in the CC I was in.  Initially prizes were given to the top 5 and about 3 or 4 random draws.  But it was almost always the same players in the top 5, so I ended up giving just random prizes.  The top placing players seemed to be ok with it because, like I've said before, they already win prizes elsewhere, and they still stood as much chance as the other participants here of winning prizes too, but the real value was allowing some of the lesser players to possibly win something and so keep their interest alive.

Nico - as we don't seem to have any 'Set of the Week' tournaments any more, doing that each week I think will make a great addition to the tournaments we currently have.  I for one will enjoy the challenge of playing with clubs I'm not used to.

The main reason I set it up with set of the week and shot clock was because it wasn't really something we've done since I've been here and wanted to see how many players would be interested in playing them without any set credit payout.

As of now there's been just under 1000 entries into this specific tournament, less than the main tournaments that get made weekly, but honestly not as far behind as I expected.

After a few tries I ended up hitting a 68 which I was pretty happy with but may go back throughout this week and try to get it a bit lower. I definitely always want to make sure I play these fun/different tournaments I make.

Prizes to random prize winners is certainly an interesting idea. Probably a couple ways in which I can do this. Thanks for the idea actually I may do this in addition to paying out the top 5 (since I already said this I don't want to go back).

For people that do choose to stream it, if I don't catch people live playing it, I definitely want to go back and watch the VODs of them.

Not sure how often I will be making these fun tournaments, probably once a month, and each one is played with various setups, settings, courses, etc. so feel free to send me any fun tournament ideas you all may have.

+1.  For future tournaments like this, random draw for prizes would be best.

Even though I've been tearing my hair out on this one (but still enjoying the challenge), I'm definitely up to any type of fun tournament, even for no prizes!

I used to have OBS installed on my old laptop before the hard drive died just over a year ago.  Going to download it on this laptop now and see if I can get it set up to stream/record another attempt this week.  But don't be expecting fireworks!

I have managed to set up OBS and Twitch successfully, and tested it.  Couldn't get it to produce a video on Twitch initially, but thanks to Google I found out that the VOD slider in Settings>Stream needs to be set to ON on Twitch, and so I now have it working.  Unfortunately it's just gone midnight now, so I'll try do a stream tomorrow evening of another attempt at this tournament to try better my 68. I'll try to give some notice in this thread.  I'll also try to get a 2nd monitor so that I can have OBS and/or Twitch displayed whilst I am playing in case of any questions in chat.  I'll need to figure out whether OBS or Twitch needs to be displayed, maybe someone who knows can tell me?

EDIT:  I've just realised, there's no chance I will be able to watch chat during this game as 15 seconds is barely long enough to play a shot, let alone to what chat too!  However, I'd still be grateful if someone could tell me the best way to monitor chat for future streams.

My suggestion would be to respond to chat in between holes.

Unfortunately I've not had time to play more than one game per day last few days because I'm away from ome and busy doing other things.  Hopefully next week some time I'll be able to stream a game.

    Hey everyone,

just want to say thanks to everyone that played in this tournament. It was the most played weekly tournament by around 4000 entries (this was using just the numbers on last weeks weekly tournaments).

There were only two scores under 60 and they were ECC370 and PRIESTESS with scores of 58 and 59 respectively.

My best score was a 68 so not too bad I think.

I will be giving prizes to those in the top 5 like I said, and also prizes to 3 random players in the top 250 (will be using a random number generator for those 3)

The 3 randomly drawn players are:

    • evansmith50
    • zerozerosette
    • robbietray

Their gifts have been sent out, and I will be sending out gifts to the top 5 later today.

WGTChampion decided to get in on the action and make his own tournament this week. It is starter club set with a 25 second shot clock (this feels mean)!

Once again, thank you to everyone who attempted this fun (and a little crazy) tournament. Look forward to next months and all future ones after that.

Perhaps your tournaments and WGTChampion's should be advertised in WGT Tournament Announcements?

Just had an attempt at this week's starter club tournament... and rather messed it up.  Didn't help that I had so many headwinds that I was unable to reach half of the par 4's in regulation, meaning I was always fighting to save par rather than a birdie hunt.  But plenty more days to have another go, and I'll see if I get a chance to stream an attempt.

Nico/Champion - you can obviously set whichever clubs you want for any tournament, just like you made it possible to only play with starter clubs this tournament.  Is it possible to give us that functionality too?  Many times in the past people have set up tournaments for starter clubs, for instance, but then they (both organisers and players) have to jump through millions of hoops to ensure people were playing with the right clubs/balls.  It would be so much easier if we could set the clubs to use as part of the tournament parameters just as you have done.
