After over a year of hacking through this game, I can't seem to be able to get any better.  I figured early on that I would get better simply with experience but as I rose through the leverls nothing seemed to be making much progress .  So I figured that the solution must be in buying better equipment.  So I saved credits until I could buy a complete set of Burner clubs.

That set me back significantly.  I did see a slight improvement in my distance but the swing speed became so fast that I can rarely hit the mark and more often than not, my click is outside of the "forgiving" range.  As a result, my scores got worse rather than better.

Then I reached level 55 and bought a Daytona Putter because that is the one I use in real Golf.  Another costly move.  The club has obvious flaws, the worst of which is with a severe uphill putt, the range on the scale is insufficient to even get the ball to the hole even with a full swing.  I am thinking that there was little or no testing of this product before it was released into the WGT.

FInally, I see tournament scores that are totally rediculous.  51 on an 18 hole tournament course?  Come on, who shoots anywhere near that score in real life?  That would require 16 birdies and 2 eagles.  Only a superhuman could achieve that feat.  So what is the secret? does someone have to spend thousands of dollars on credits to finally discover which clubs/balls can get the distance, accuracy and forgiveness to accomplish scores like this?

I am eagerly awaiting the secrets to other people's success!

Take a look at your stats, particularly your sand and scrambling %s. That right there will tell you what you need to work on. You fix those and the putting will fix itself. You need to learn how to get up and down to save your par, just like IRL, and this is done by using all of the shots at your disposal-pitch, chip, flop, punch as well as full. Play for par and the birdies will come.

The Chip and Pitch Tips is a good place to start. If you want to get better there don't skim the article, read it. Icon wrote it and IMO it should be required reading. You can't buy your average, you have to work at it. The clubs make it easier but you're the one doing the thinking and managing the courses. Play smarter. Use all the shots. Ask questions. Play with better players and watch how they do  it. In essence, get serious about it and work at it. You'll get there.  GL

I used to never use the flop shot around the greens.  Once I started, I was saving par routinely.  It takes a little while to get the shot down, but once you do, it works great.  Remember to aim slightly left of the hole.

Also, at your current level (58), there are even better clubs than what you have.  Try out the Raptures with their slow swing speed to hit consistent shots.  Also, the better Srixon and Callaway balls do make a really big difference, especially when it comes to swing speed.  They have a higher "feel" rating and it slows down the meter accordingly.  To score better, you do have to spend money.  It is the reality of the game.  I started doing surveys and it has paid for all of my recent club and ball purchases.

I've been playing golf for 40+ years now and it really is very close to the actual thing so use you golf instincts here as well.  Low scores are definately getting easier with the longer, and more precise clubs.  Also the 51's and 52's you see were shot at tourneys played from the red or white tees so the players with the big drivers are playing wedges and short irons into the greens and hitting many par 5's in two.

I would be happy to play sometime as well.  good luck.

Try a ball with 2 dots of "feel".  Should help with the meter speed quite a bit.

Well, spending money is not in the cards.  So if that is what it takes, I guess I'll have to remain bad or quit playing.

When I get to a point where nothing seems to work like I intended, the thing I like to do and think it helps is........

Play stupid.    I start taking risky shots and just try having fun with it.   Bring out the free ball and whack away.  Kind of a stress reliever,   I don't know what it is, maybe its because there is no pressure of hitting a good shot.

Then after a round or two of that, I play a normal round with the "just have fun" attitude but avoid the stupid-risky shots,   accept where it ends up and focus on the next shot.

    Helps me

Hey there spitlist. I have never used the Daytona putter, but I have tried every other putter and currently I use the higher leveled Redwood. But I have friends who do use the Daytona. And I'm 100% positive that there is nothing wrong with the Daytona. Now what could be the problem? Well it sounds like you don't know about the different scales for each putter. The Daytona putter has scales of 15ft, 30ft, 60ft, 90ft, 150ft, & 300ft. So let's say you had a 15ft putt. With 3inches uphill on tour master tournament greens. I would use the 150ft. scale and move the putter back 1 avatar movement and then attempt to ding the shot. Because every avatar movement is equal to 15ft. of power on the 150ft. scale. Now obviously the avatar movements on the other scales are equal to a different footage. You would just have to figure that out. Or you could ask someone that owns it and that knows. If you read the "PUTTING TIPS" on the right side of this page (its printed in green) it explains it a little better and there are some very useful tips. So make sure to read it and re-read it. Very useful information. Hope this helps ya. Good luck to ya. Take care.

but the swing speed became so fast that I can rarely hit the mark

That's quite surprising it effected your game 'significantly' as all your clubs (bar putter) are the same speed. I believe your equipment is enough to get to Tour Pro.

Yankee Jim mentions you scrambling and sand save stats etc., I'd say you needed to bring up your greens in regulation stats hopefully then not needing to improve those mentioned lol. I know easier said then done.

Although CTTH and Blitz are good for you to learn yardages and practice hitting that ding you'll never learn where to put your drive or where on the green is an easier putt from etc.

I'm not a good 'Legend' but if you send a friend request we'll play a few rounds and I'll see if I can help at all. I'm sure the others who've posted here would do the same.

    Cheers
