It's a golf game combined with chat functionality, so one should not be allowed to encroach upon the other.

    Faterson asks....

    What "180 seconds"?

Currently, there are TWO 90 second periods per shot allowed per player....and there may be more time allotted, but I refuse to sit and wait while a player does whatever he does during that time period. During the SECOND 1.5 minute time period, I usually leave the game in search of golfers, not self-important philosophers or home-improvement project managers.

Not true. You only get that 2nd 90 seconds a single time during a round; all the other times the first missed 90 seconds result in a penalty shot for the player concerned.

So, everything is as it should be. Except that it would, indeed, make sense if WGT allowed the game host to specify a timer of 30/45/60/90 seconds, or even no timer at all (!), just as TWO allows this for game hosts during round setup.

    Faterson sez....

"Not true. You only get that 2nd 90 seconds a single time during a round; all the other times the first missed 90 seconds result in a penalty shot for the player concerned."

Then there's a glitch in the system. I sat through most of two 90 second periods on 2 holes during a ranked 4-player match the other day with the same player (who admitted he was working on his over-flowing toilet between shots), before leaving during the 3rd hole on BPB front nine. Possibly he didn't take the full 180 seconds on either hole, maybe that was why he didn't receive the penalty you speak of, and subsequently was allowed more than one consecutive 90 second time period.

Here's a thought, Faterson...would you be acceptable to a 90 second shot clock, with a penalty stroke occurring after said 90 seconds?

Could be. But I assure you the standard functionality is as I described it to you. Only yesterday, I played a match where this happened to my opponent. He exceeded the 90 seconds for one of his shots on hole 3 (I think), so he got a warning and another 90 seconds. Then, he exceeded the 90 seconds on his birdie putt on one of the last few holes, and he immediately received a stroke penalty; there was no second set of 90 seconds. I like this setup.

Yes, I would. This is how TWO does it. I like WGT's way better, though: first a warning, and if the same thing happens a second time, the penalty stroke is immediately applied. There should be no glitches, of course. And, as I said, I'm very much open to the idea of letting the game host decide what the timer should be: 30/45/60/90 seconds/no timer at all.

Always happy to find common ground, whenever possible... It's the only way!
