Been playing for 3-4 years off and on and am at level 86. Been using starter clubs up until 1 week ago. Never been under par on any round, and best is 2 over par. Bought all new clubs, spent over 145 dollars on everything except putter and am playing worse. I can't get past the first few holes of any course without making a bogey or worse so I just give up. It isn't fun anymore. I actually played and scored better with starter clubs. The best score since the new clubs is 3 over par and the rest are 8-10 over if lucky. My overall avg. is 78. I don't know what to do except to stop playing sell my clubs and move on. I drive the ball really well, my iron play is above avg but my chipping, pitching and putting are where I lose the majority of my strokes. Any suggestions would be helpful. I do wish to keep playing and thought new clubs would help. Do I need a new putter? Do I need to just practice more without worrying about my score? I need some help cause it isn't fun anymore. I don't want to enter tournaments but just play par golf. My goal is to just play 2-3 over par and I will be very happy. I can't even do that now. The round I just played I was 7 over par after 12 holes. I can't make easy putts and my chipping is the worst of any player ever. At my wits end and willing to take suggestions, criticisms, and encouragement. Please leave any helpful hints and I will do my best to put them into action. Thanks.

At your own admission you have been playing with those same starter clubs for four years. You have had your new clubs a week. Give yourself a chance, it’s just taking time to adjust.

Dont be too hard on yourself, just practice with the new clubs and try and remember that you never pick anything up instantly, you will get there.

I would also suggest you practice pitch , chip and flop constantly , but perhaps focus on one of them and get confident with that , before moving on to another type of shot. I know for me I prefer the pitch over chip and flop , but just keep practicing. Don’t bother with tournaments until you are feeling more confident .

Your GIR is 34% and your scramble % is 21. Pair that with a over 2 putts per hole average and that's a good recipe for bogey golf. Go on a practice green and learn how to putt on whatever green speeds you play on. Practice 2 putting from long distance. Start a practice round and intentionally miss the green somewhere that leaves you a pretty level pitch shot to map your pitch and flop shots. Dont focus on the hole. Hit a pitch shot 100% with your shortest wedge. Note what yardage it lands at and how much rollout it has. Then take a mulligan to hit from the exact same spot but hit with 75% power this time. Again note the carry and rollout. Repeat at 50% power. Do this with all your wedges for pitch and flop shots from both fairway and rough lies, full backspin and no backspin. Taking mulligans burns through the hits on your ball so be prepared to waste an entire ball or 2 doing this but its worth it. Improve that GIR % and short game and your scores will drop dramatically.

I see that your wedges are a fairly quick 3.0 meter and fairly low forgiveness.  It's possible that could be making your wedge play more difficult for you.  The starter wedges are quite a bit slower. Give yourself more time to adjust to the faster clubs.  You could also try using a different ball to slow your clubs down a little.  The WGT GI-S and GI2-S are the cheapest balls to experiment with that.

Which method do you use to putt? Do you move the aim marker and try to hit the ding (on-ding putting) or do you manipulate where the ball goes by hitting before or after the ding(off-ding putting)?  If you putt off-ding, adjusting to the higher forgiveness of the Scotty Cameron putter will probably take time. Off-ding, you'll have to play more break on your putts with the Scotty Cameron than you're used to doing if you've been putting with the Starter putter.  I have a few putters including the L70 Scotty Cameron. It's a pretty good putter on- or off- ding once you get used to it (better on-ding, IMO, but I'm no putting expert.)

Okay, these are my thoughts, in no particular order:

    1.  Good move purchasing that L70 Scotty Cameron putter.  It's an excellent putter.  Maybe the last one you'll ever need.

    2.  You need a matched set of wedges.  The best wedge you have right now is the MAX Spin 56° Wedge (L50+) because it's High trajectory.  I've also sent you the other 2 MAX Spin wedges to complete the set (check your Inbox).  Equip those, and sell back the other 2 wedges you just bought and buy some balls with the credits.  Like GreenLaser said, the GI2-S balls (64 cr) are good.  The GI3-S balls (99 cr) are good as well.

    3.  The Cobra irons you have are not very good.  You said that your iron play is above avg, but they are Med trajectory, which is the worst.  The L85 Callaways are much better - High trajectory and a 4.4 meter speed which is much better than the 3.7 speed of your Cobras.  I would say, save your credits until WGT has one of their sales (like a 20% off sale) and then buy those.

    4.  Poke around the Forums here and try to find some information on how to hit the shots that are giving you trouble.  Too much to cover here.

    5.  Consider joining a better CC.  The CC you're in right now has an absentee owner who hasn't played WGT in over 5 years.

Enjoy your game, and have fun getting to know all your new clubs 😁

FWIW, I think you'll like the Scotty Cameron putter much better than the previous two you purchased. I remember renting that L62 Odyssey Toulon and wasn't impressed with it.

I see you got the L85 Callaway irons. I really like those!

Much better wedge set up now, too.  Better spacing, better spin, better trajectory.
