Yeah, I  wasn't talking about the people who start the game and then have to leave for a bit to do something else in life and come back to finish later.  I was referring to the people who click the Sign Up button, and then go play something else or leave altogether for up to 24 hours, and then come back and start the tournament.  The way it stands, one person could really hold the whole thing up for the other 49 just so they could wait and see what score they have to beat.

That's why I suggested a 2 hr timer once you hit the Sign Up button to actually tee off, or be withdrawn automatically.  If someone wants to hold up the tournament then, they'll have to actually enter the game, save it on the first tee, and then won't be able to play anything else until they return to the tournament.  Would probably be a good incentive to keep things moving along and making sure people are really "Ready" when they sign up.

P.S. I was being sarcastic when I said I was almost glad I couldn't enter.  I would love to play Match Play Challenges and Ready-Go's, as would many of the people who are in the designated no-play zones.

Ready-Go's are open format but each player plays from their own tees.  Masters play blue, pros play whites etc etc.

I love the format...yes the   2 hour timer..might be a good idea...emergencies do come up  but for a dollar...don't enter if your not sure you can play..I love how it spreads the field so if you shoot 3 or 4 under you can make some ball bank, be competitive and have some fun. The ready go tourneys are a cool idea...TY!

Thanks to everybody for participating in this discussion.  It has turned up alot of interesting insight and experience.

I have just had participation in 2 Ready Gos that bear relevant comment.

Last night - signed up for Kiawah Ready Go (18 Holes) # 1075.  This was at about 11 PM Atlanta time - so a bit late.  I was the final (#50) person to join.  So I go to start the game...and the nonsense starts.  "LoadManager Error - Timeout",  "Connection Lost - The WGT Server thinks your internet connection is $#^%ed UP" and the ever popular "Unexpected Error - We are sorry there has been a problem with the game the WGT server is vomiting."  All of this during the LOAD.  It being late at night, I simply was not in the mood.  Shut it off went to bed.  Woke up this morning and shot my round at 7 AM Atlanta time.  Not my best round - finished with a 68 but it will fly in terms of placing.

MORAL OF THE STORY:  I found a "use" for not starting immediately.  Even so - completed within about 10 hours of signup.

Had a good round on Bethpage last EVENING in a Ready Go #1073  (18 Holes) - finished with a -3 @ 67 strokes.  Could have been (for ME) a GREAT round.  The Nasty Secret that my 67 is hiding is a FOUR PUTT on BPB # 15.  It has happened to us all at one time or another.

2nd shot landed at the far back of the green giving me one of the nastiest putts in all of WGT.  45 feet from the hole but you can only hit it as if it is 12 feet AND you have to aim it about 15 feet WIDE and then gravity takes over and you PRAY that the merciless roll will STOP.  (It didn't - rolled off the front of the green).  Egads.  Just another day.  I am not complaining about my 67.  A good round that COULD HAVE BEEN a great round.

See you on the links, AtlantaCoaster

    tibbets,

Sorry that you (and others) can't compete in Ready-Go's.  I hope that can change someday.  The galleries just aren't as large when they know tibbets isn't going to be there!  They are a  lot of fun and there's always some tournament to enter without having to wait until Monday mornings.  Note: The leaderboard is visible to no one until ALL 50 entries have been filled.

    WGTadmin2,

You stated that if one withdraws from a Ready-Go, the system knows it.
Can it be possible to post this on the leaderboard with a "WD"?... just to see how many more players really need to finish.

    AtlantaCoaster,

I also 4-putted Bethpage #15 yesterday!  Exactly as you described above.

We will work on a solution to give everyone better info on who has finished and has WD from ready go tournaments.

Either way...I am still waiting for the pay out on 2 R-G tourneys I player 2 days ago....come on people,Either play the 20 to 25 min. game "OR" Dont PLAY the tournament. It has nothing to do with a couple of quarters, it has to do with the Leaderboard and where you finished amoung 50 other players. Thats the fun of it. Instaed of finishing 150th or 237th - like I usally do, in the "for all player tourneys" you can finally finish at least in the top 20 or 25. If it is not that intresting to you, or you could care less, then dont play - and stop getting your little jollies playing-(example) "watch this...now everybody will have to wait for ME to finish...OH BOY!!". WOW...Think about it my friends,(and you know who you are) if this is where you have finally arrived in life then; I think you just might want to take a look at doing something a little different next time around...lol. One way or another, wgt will figure out how to fix this minor little gliche caused by minor little minds. edge...
