I currently own a Taylor Made "Spider" putter. Now that I have gone up a few levels the Taylor Made "Ghost Spider" putter is available to me.

I notice in the comment section that people do like this putter but it also seems that the biggest difference is in the scale. Where the Spider has a scale of 25' with no foot increments, the Ghost Spider has a scale of 15'.

Where I usually two put with my Spider (about 1/3 of the time three put) is the Ghost Spider worth me having? Is it worth spending the extra $800??? That's huge dollars for a putter that does not seem to be that much better than the one I already own. It may be a lot better, I don't know.

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Owl.

Wait until the free rental days and give it a try.

If you like the Spider, you'll like the L35 Ghost Spider.  There's no real adjustment to be made, because the meter is the same speed.  I like having the additional 15 foot mode.  And it is a bit more precise, both on paper and in use, imo.  It's subtle though.  Don't expect a dramatic improvement.  If you're lipping or just missing, more of those might drop.

But if you're 3 putting a lot, it's probably more a problem of technique and/or execution.  If you're stopping 3 feet short, rolling 6 feet by, or 4 wide, no putter will cure that.  And of course, if your approach shot lands 50 feet away, that's not going to help your putting, either.

You won't hate it, but you might not love it, either.  I liked the Spider, I like the L35 Ghost Spider, and I'm glad I upgraded.  But if you don't like the Spider, you probably won't like the L35 G.S. any better.

Do the free rental and see.

I wouldn't waste your credits. The L19 spider is every bit as good as the L35. I've had good and bad rounds with both and ultimately I sold back the L35 for 1/4 of what I payed for it. If anything the 15 ft scale is a hassle because sometimes you forget its there and u leave a 3 ft putt short. Put 250 credits towards a 64degree satin wedge(50yd) distance and save the rest for when you have to upgrade your driver when you tier up to master. To create space for the wedge, drop the hybrid as it goes virtually the same distance as your 3 iron. The 64 degree satin is a must for any player and will help ensure that you have shorter putts to save par.

In AS play I generally concede obviously makeable putts unless the op has a Spider putter.

I would lose that Spider as fast as you could and get something with some precision, like the Ghost you're looking at.

I rented this club and I'm finding that this club is a great club. A club that will drop the scores of any  "good" player. It will have far less lip puts and the ones that seems to be just a bit short, they will drop into the clup too. But for me I find that I cannot use the benifits of this club. I'm still to much of a hack to benift from it's precision.   Where I still hae a tough time reading fast breaks or even the speeds on downhill puts, the Ghost club can't correct what "I" need to improve upon. I also find that the 15' scale has cost me a few pars because I'm not used to the shortened distance. I"m sure I would get used it it in a very short periods of time so it would not be a big issue later on down the road but for the first few games it would be.

But for those who are thinking of buing this club, if you are a good player with many puts under and inch short/wide/rimming then this club will benifit you greatly, but for those of us who are regular hacks, it's not worth the $800 asking price. Half that maybe, but not the full eight bills.
