First MS-DOS Computer Virus . January 19, 1986 . The first MS-DOS virus is unleashed. It was a floppy disk boot sector virus that became known as "Brain". It was written by Pakistani brothers Basit Farooq Alvi and Amjad Farooq Alvi, who claimed it was intended to protect their copyrighted medical software from piracy. The virus didn't destroy data, but it did slow down the floppy disk. The brothers are still in business together as Brain Telecommunication Limited.. Scott hope remembers it well .
