How much does the fringe slow the ball down ? I know it does have a definate affect on the ball ,but is there a % that would apply?

    hi

it depends how deep it in in fringe.  hard to judge though and really depends on slope afterwards.

My personal fringe moments. Literally anything over a 1/4 of an inch into the fringe, I chip it. Anything less, I'll add one MAYBE two feet to the asked requirement.

Icon is right. But I do know that 9 yards of more to the hole and I'll use my Satin wedges to flop that puppy!

I sink a good number of fringe putts, you just have to know when its better to use chip or whatever, but 80% of the time, you are good with the putter if it within 10 yards or so.

I add 2 feet of power for 1 foot or less or fringe. add 1 foot per foot after that. 1.5 if it's a little up hill. If its a steep uphill,  chip, pitch, bump and run, flop, hit it even harder with the putter - whatever feel best.

that's for tourney greens, I'm not sure if the fringe changes a bit with green speeds.

What Bird said! I calculate putting power as normal, then add 1 foot if I'm barely off the green proper, and up that to + 2 or 3 feet if my ball is 1 - 2 feet into the fringe.
