We all have a hole on a particular course that when you get to it you think, "awww crap". Sometimes its a hole that others find "easy" but you have this crazy mental block against, and seem to always play it like a homeless dog.

    For me it's two holes:

The first being fairly obviously...The 2nd at St Andrews. Does anyone play this hole well? It's like trying to land a marble on a bowling ball with the approach shot. Then we all know what the green is like. Not sure I've ever seen a conceded putt there in an AS game.

The next and more my own crutch would be the 18th at Royal St Georges. The pin location feels desperately unfair...and makes me feel at the time of playing it, that it was made specifically to torment a good round. You can land it there without problems...But my mind is thinking so hard of the slope to the left that I end up dinging too early and landing up with a 30 foot mountain putt. I truly, madly, deeply...HATE...that hole.

    Any others guys?

Number 4 on CCC is a B******d to me. No matter what type of shot i hit, i always end up hitting the first tree. I would say in all honesty i hit that tree about 4 out of 5 times. Then there is the 2nd (i think) on BPB. This is the evil twin of the first shot, and i hit that F*****g tree at least the same amount of times.

Firstly, as for your hate of St A's 2, you need clubs with better spin and higher trajectory. The Raptures are the opposite of that, bad investment imo.

Secondly, as for RSG 18, don't let the huge hill get on your mind. Just put your shot 30ft right and take a 2 putt par.

Thirdly, as for 2-1's hate of CCC #4, aim right off the tee and hit early. I do this and very rarely hit the tree.

Fourthly, on BPB 2, aim for the 246 yard marker on the right and hit 1 bar early. Preferably a tiny bit earlier than that even, as later than that may find rough. I do this and never ever hit the tree.

As for my worst hole, RSG 9. Late click goes right of the green, early click goes 30ft left, hit too short and it's a tough putt over a hill, hit long and it goes right and long! I don't really hate the hole in general, I just hate when I click late on the approach.

There isn't enough time in the day to pick out all the holes I play badly on, so I'll just tell you a select few. I'll try to skip out the obvious ones, too.

CCC 15. 5 bunkers on the drive, raised green means I miss it 90% of the time. If ever I do hit a decent approach, I seem to hit the ridge on the green and bounce off to the left and into the rough. My worst hole, probably, on CCC.

STA 13. Honestly, I play this hole worse than 17. Never know which way to go with the drive as I'm never confident of the medium-flight of my driver clearing the bunkers. This means I don't hit the fairway often enough and leave myself difficult approaches into deviously placed pins. 3-putts common and if I miss the fairway or green I'm scrambling for a bogey.

BPB 5. Quite a few holes I hate on this course, mainly due to my starter balls making any raised green difficult. 7, 9, 10, 15 (obviously) and 17 are also quite heavily disliked, but the heavily bunkered green just makes my approach to 5 impossible, even if I do hit the fairway.

RSG 15. Man, I am ecstatic to come away with par here. A seriously difficult drive followed by a virtually impossible approach to a green which has an incredibly narrow entrance and will reject aboslutely anything short. 9 is another pet-hate. That pin is just evil.

KIA 9. Again, several holes I fear on here; 4, 5, 13, 17. 9, though, just gives me no chance, or so it would seem. I've tried everything - punches, top-spin, back-spin, whatever. I can never get within 20ft, and if I do, I'm short of the green with a tricky chip.

OAK 15. I was tempted to say almost every hole but 15 is probably my worst, barring maybe 9. All the par 3s are tough on Oakmont and the par 5s, especially 12, don't offer a certain scoring chance. However, 15 is just wrong. Most of the time I don't even reach the bunker on the left and have a 3-wood into an undulating green which offers 3-putts (particularly to the front-left pin) aplenty.

Like I said, I could have gone on forever about different holes and different ways of playing them and why they're difficult and what have you, but I hope I've managed to almost keep it close to concise.

    Jack.

    Oh yeah.

The 4th at Kiawah. Never get that approach shot right.

Unless you have a high trajectory driver (check) you will never get over any of those trees. There is a shot where you CAN go through them but its finding it.lol:~)) Its best to lay up as far on to the fairway as you can and go for par.

Try an approach slightly short and to the right of the flag with full b/s with a lofted club. Works for me after a lot of swearing and tantrums.

I always try and hit 240yds with an open driver to give it some roll. Allow for the wind and I usually manage to make the fairway. If the wind is against give full wack but Ding it other wise its  F""£$!% Fescue time. The approach shot I try to land short and slightly right because it will roll no matter how much b/s you apply. Try it . Works for me.
