I am currently using the 275 yard R9 and I am wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to the 278 yard SuperTri.  I just got to lvl 73 so I missed the free rental period, so if anyone has used both I would appreciate any feedback.

My housemate uses it and looks ok, but the SuperTri has a very fast meter... if you can handle fast meters, then hang on and get the L80 R9. Then after that L88 R11.

    Cheers

I've got the G10, rented the R9 lvl 62 and the SuperTri... SuperTri is much better, more accurate and a lot longer than 3 yds longer. The meter is faster, for sure -- also, supposedly, faster than the lvl 80. Personally, I'm waiting for that one -- heard only good things about it.

Horace,  I used the SuperTri with the G10s  until i reached level 80 and then  got the  R9.  But I would still play with the SuperTri often.   The meter is almost twice as fast as your current driver.    So keep that in mind.    It takes getting used to; Having a fast Driver and all the rest of your clubs being slower can throw your rhythm off for a few weeks.    Sometimes its better to keep all  clubs to one set meter speed...     But hey to get some extra bang u gotta sacrifice...      Renting it may give you an idea of what you are getting into..  But  one day with it will not show you how you will adapt to it;  after say  2 weeks?

If you have the credits to burn buy it.   It is a great driver.......  If not keep what u have  and wait til  Level 80

The SuperTri is a good club but the meter can give you fits. It's not all that much faster, but it accelerates at the end. Almost all the other faster meters have a steady speed throughout the meter travel. The SuperTri on the other hand is not a steady fast meter it speeds up about 2/3's of the way to the end of the meter travel making it harder to judge but if you can do it it is worth it, But it still can't compare to the 280 yard R9 or the R11. Just one word of caution though. I would wait maybe a week before deciding. I mean there should be an update in a few days and maybe there will be a new driver on the horizon, There is speculation about the Ping G20 clubs coming soon, Who knows but it might be worth the 3 or 4 day wait.

Thanks for all the responses, I will probably hold off for a few days and see what happens.  I can some problems coming from having the meter speed up at the end.

Once upon a time, back in the day. The SuperTri was the longest hitting club available. As such it was given the fastest meter speed of any club. It still has that distinction but it has been superseeded in distance by slower metered and more accurate clubs. If you can live with it's speed then all other clubs should be a piece of cake. Some people like a matched set though with all clubs having the same speed, the choice is yours.

I started using the Super Tri a couple of weeks ago. LOVE IT !! The thing is a beast and my scoring has definitely improved.....and....my average driving distance has already gone up 9 yards since. Personally, I think the 278yd indication is low. I rarely hit it 278 or less. In fact, this club pretty regularly produces 300+ yards even into cross winds and back winds....and I would say the avergage is around 284-288. As others have indicated, the meter is fast but it didn't take long at all to get used to it. I'm glad I bought it....it's been worth it. I was using the G10 prior to getting the Super Tri.
