When playing against another player in a coin game, is there anyway to know what the green speed is before teeing off on the first hole ?

It would be nice to know what the speed is as that would relate to how much spin you want to put on the ball on your approach shot on the 1st hole.

As of now it seems the only way you get the green speed info is when you land on the green for the first time.

This is especially critical when playing a high level coin game for lots of coins and it's only a single hole match.

Good point that I'd also be interested in knowing the answer to. Can be very frustrating if you land just off the green and need to judge a chip/pitch that's either going to stop short or roll way past.

If you are in a coin game and your opponent hits their approach first, you can see the green speed by clicking on the slide-out menu on the left of the screen, then clicking it again to close.  If their ball is going to stop on either the green or the fringe, it will show you the green speed.  Very useful.

Unfortunately that won't help if you are hitting your approach first.  I don't understand why WGT can't just list the green speed on the screen when you are teeing off

WGT / Nico said that it's because they don't want players quitting coin games before they tee off if they see a green speed they don't like.  Personally, I think that's a stupid reason.

    Yes....an incredibly stupid reason indeed.

Maybe not so stupid. You don't realize how many players won't play if the green speed is above 10 or 11.
