Probably everyone knows this, but I just learned it today. I now carry two 3 woods instead of a hybrid. I just never found a hybrid that I liked, so I subbed in a fairly reliable beginner 3 wood of lesser distance. So far it's working pretty well.

i would reconsider since fairway wood fly much higher and land softer, so if compatible one available, i would make every effort to use that.

Agree Agree Agree. Get the best Driver and 3W you can and go with the extra wedge. As you move up in tiers there will be more of a gap between your Irons and Wedges and 3 wedges helps span that gap.
I want to thank you for posting about the hybrids for I very seldom use it. I will keep in mind when I get higher in ranking and look into the wedge.
