Are people really paying 150 credits to get or upgrade their Epic gear by a single piece? It's 150 credits for 1 tick, right? Not 150 credits for 100 ticks?

It is not 150 credits. I is 150 coins. 160 credits is worth $1.50. 150 coins is worth 22 cents no not 22 cents 2,2 cents.

Yes, 150 credits is for 1 tick. And then the price increases by 30 credits for each tick you buy. So 150 to start then 180 if you buy another then 210, 240, 270 and so on.

But to answer the first part of your question I doubt many people are actually paying that. Some must be though because they haven’t ever changed the pricing structure that I can recall.

I purchased a couple Epic items a while back because I didn't have the item and wanted to complete the Achievement.  I don't play many coin games, so it would have taken me ages to get the remaining Epics.

Sorry. I see my initial post was unclear. I was refering to buying apparel in the pro shop for credits, not coins. I shouldn't have used the word "upgrade," which is what you do when you spend coins to move your apparel up one rank.

Avinashokka answered my question. You can buy the same apparel up to 100 times for  credits in the pro shop in order to increase the amount of that apparel in your inventory. Considering the the quantities you need at the higher ranks and how little this improves your performance stats, it's seems ludicrous to spend 150 credits just to add to your inventory by only 1 item. If I were increasing my inventory of that item by 100, then I'd consider it.

On a related note, I was able to get every item through playing coin games while sponsored. (although it did take some time to get that last stubborn shoe). I guess I might have paid to get some epic apparel item if I wanted it for my appearance. (Yes, I paid the 500 credits to separate my appearance from my abilities, so I have two tabs in my apparel room.)

Actually the original post mentioned to "get or upgrade".  Get would indicate buying.  And what everyone else posted is correct.  In the Pro Shop you "get"/buy extra R&D Points (one at a time) with Credits, not Coins.  Since that was the original question Avinashokka and arkage57 were 100% correct with their responses.
