It's not really money, but credits you earn during a tournament, etc. The number only represents what you have earned over the course of your career. It is not money to spend. The credits themselves go into your account as you earn them and you spend them accordingly, or accumulate them for bigger and better equipment. If you're lucky enough to accumulate several million, you can buy real life stuff like trips and cars.
